Not really and AIBU. Just venting anger. Really like my mil and sil. more importantly love my dh's family christmas party. they are all lovely. but mil and sil could not come from essex becasue of snow.
we did have lovely time. 80 year olds to 8 month olds. and god we put on a good spread, as always.
but she is old. and you never know when she may not be around for the next one. and she was missed. she was apparently very upset and cried alot. dh was upset too. all her children were.
shame.
bloody snow. wouldn't mind. but when it gets int he way of gammon and lobster, then it is a pain !!!

in our house that would be a fucking blessing! I would well be behind the kitchen door going "YES!!" and punching the air if my mil couldnt come!!

Thats a turn up for the books, some one actually liking thier ils and bieng disapointed about not seeing them!!!

YABU.

I have been praying to baby Jesus for exactly this kind of situation.

In the absence of snow, I am now praying to the God of eurostar, although I think he may have misheard me and stopped the trains a bit too early.

Oblomov · 20/12/2009 14:43

ha ha tethers.
And she was supposed to be going home with one of the other sil's yesterday, to spend Xmas with her, rather than on her own. and she was supposed to be coming to us for boxing day.
now all that is up in arms, becasue if the snow in essex continues, she may be on her own for the whole of christmas.
seems a shame.

tsc, I hate to tell you this

I am not too far away from you, have been out today, and the roads are an absolute nightmare

honestly, there has been no gritting, so there is snow on ice on snow....

I wouldn't travel unless essential (and to save your mental health is not really essential ...)

I'd be upset in your position OP as I also like my MIL & SIL.

Fingers crossed that the weather improves so your MIL does not have to spend christmas alone.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 20/12/2009 15:30

< fingers crossed for you >
