to never let DP be alone in charge of a Christmas tree again?

He has taken my lovely tree, hacked some of the bottom branches off and set it wonky in the container. I sulked briefly upstairs then we decorated it in the hope it would look better. It doesn't but I'm putting a brave face on it.

Have piled presents in front to hide the fact that the lower branches are lacking. What happens when no presents left?

Should I make him take it all down tomorrow and chop the bottom off so I can't see the bare lower trunk or should I just stop looking at it?

Drink half a bottle of Bailey's. Guarantee you either won't notice any more, or, if you can still see it, you will no longer care.

ClaireDeLoon · 19/12/2009 22:53

Good thinking.

Can I just keep doing that between now and the tree coming down?

Plumm · 20/12/2009 09:40

clam · 20/12/2009 09:41

Chop one of his branches off!

June2009 · 20/12/2009 10:33

can you try and put some greenery at the bottom? holly or pine cones?
is it really that important? don't let it ruin your xmas.

SnowMuchToBits · 20/12/2009 10:41

YANBU - I'd have been really upset!

Why did he hack it about?

TulipsAndTinsel · 20/12/2009 11:36

what is it with men and the urge to chop biots off the tree?!

our tree is a bit bent at the top of the trunk and dp had a stand up fight with me because he wanted to chop all the bottom branches off andhalf a foot off the trunk to 'straighten' it.... wtf? it's bent at the top you fool!

he's still amking constant sulky comments about not being allowed to hack it up

diddl · 20/12/2009 11:41

I think we need a pic to decide!

mmelindt · 20/12/2009 11:43

Ours is a bit bare at the bottom too, after a week of looking at it, I have got used to it now.

You do get skirt things to go around the bottom of the tree if it really bothers you.

mmelindt · 20/12/2009 11:44

Look, you could knit your own

ClaireDeLoon · 20/12/2009 17:39

He chopped the branches off 'to make watering it easier'

Arrange the branches around it (maybe in jugs) to hide the base, and wind tinsel through them.

And then make him peel all the veg for Christmas dinner and scrub out the turkey pan afterwards too. [evil grin emoticon]

Decorate the bannisters with left over branches and ribbons
