nickytwotimes · 18/12/2009 13:27

Is he particularly busy at this time of year? But lazy otherwise?

RockBird · 18/12/2009 13:27

Why is his weight getting you down? I'm not sure I like the tone of your op much, especially the second bit

wearthefoxhat · 18/12/2009 13:28

Everyone gets fatter at Christmas
Go for walks with him, cook nice meals together, take up dancing etc.
In the end though, if he is happy as he is, there's probably not a lot you can do

humptynumpty · 18/12/2009 13:28

YANBU but I don't know what you do about it.. my dh is overweight and would really benefit from loosing some weight. He moans about it but refuses to do anything about it. He is a comfort eater and too lazy for exercise. Will watch this space for suggestions!!

RockBird · 18/12/2009 13:28

Whoops! Pressed send before adding:

Have you spoken to him about it - mentioned that his health may suffer etc if he keeps putting on weight?

If you're eating healthily at home where/what is he eating elsewhere that's making him put on the weight?

Longtinsellyjosie · 18/12/2009 13:34

I am assuming you're being serious, and you're not Santa's wife.

How overweight are we talking here?

I'm overweight, I need to lose more than a few pounds, but I know that fat or thin, my dh loves me and as long as I am happy, he is too.
I don't think you are being really U, but you can't force someone to lose weight just cos you aren't happy with it.
You could help him by stealth by developing an interest in something active, and tasty healthy food (if it exists, that is)

Maleeka · 18/12/2009 13:37

Oops thought it was a spoof too! so hard to tell sometimes on here!

fedupinthenorth · 18/12/2009 13:39

He drinks far too much too, especially christmas, so not only is he over weight but he has a huge beer belly

OP posts:
fedupinthenorth · 18/12/2009 13:41

every year i try to encourage him to be more healthy, i am so fed up i am thinking of leaving him

YANBU- I too wouldn't like it if my dh was a couch potato and stuffed his face too much.
Change your food- encourage him to do something physical- and tell him how you feel.
I don't know how old he is, but suggest a cholesterol test- I would be worried about the effects on his health.

wearthefoxhat · 18/12/2009 13:45

How do you encourage him?

fedupinthenorth · 18/12/2009 13:47

i cook healthy meals, i try to get him out walking alot, but christmas is just a night mare

OP posts:
fedupinthenorth · 18/12/2009 13:48

i have to go now, things to do, thanks for replies

Right assuming this isn't a wind up, which it does sound like, give us the facts. What weight are we talking? Give us a snap shot of his life? Because at the moment you just sound whingey, judgey and fairly unpleasant tbh. I would never talk about my DH the way you are. His weight bothers you so much that you are thinking of leaving him? Well maybe you ought to. He might be happier too and his weight may come down.
