AIBU to consider getting a hot water bottle and putting it, along with my feet, in a pillowcase?

My feet are so cold! Granted, it's cold today but the house isn't particularly chilly and the rest of my body feels pretty comfortable, it's just my feet that are like iceblocks but it's really distracting me!

YANBU. Why even think about it? Just do it! And perhaps make a nice mug of hot chocolate while you're at it. And buttered toast.

MrsBadger · 17/12/2009 12:18

yabu - a pillowcase won;t keep the warmth in effectively

get some of those slippers with microwaveable insoles thus

Kaloki · 17/12/2009 12:19

Do it! I have one of those microwave heatpack things (a faux fur one) which tends to get wrapped round my feet when it's cold.

I am sitting, hot water bottle wedged between feet, encased in pillowcase and am really rather smiley now
sorting dcs laundry and as long as no-one comes to the door or I don't have to rescue ds3 from his latest ambitious climbing venture, I hope to remain in this cosy position until either the bottle goes cold or I decided to actually put the clothes away.
I am, however, going to take the advice of MrsBadger and get myself some warm slippers

May I recommend a pair of slippers from LaSenza, displayuntiltwelfthnight. I have a lovely, warm, snuggly pair, that proclaim me to be "Grumpy but Gorgeous" - which is spot on, especially in the morning, as the dses will tell you!

Kaloki · 17/12/2009 12:36

"get some of those slippers with microwaveable insoles thus"

I want!! If only they did them in zebra print though I have to accesorise with my zebra print dressing gown, zebra print fleece and zebra print pyjamas!

Yanbu, I have pinched DD1's hot water bottle pillow (very yummy) and I am not sat here with me feet on it, a blanket on my legs and a massive woolly jumper on, plus the heating is on lol.

Mistletoesnowman · 17/12/2009 15:02

YANBU it is freezing. I have kept my Uggs on in the office rather than change into my clippy cloppy work shoes.

displayuntiltwelfthnight · 18/12/2009 12:02

Thank you all - and I hope you feet are warmer today!
Thanks StayingSantasGirl for the La Senza tip off.
Kaloki - I spotted these after all the suggestions about microwaveable slippers. Not zebra but might the black and white look ok with your zebra ensemble?

I can't bear socks in the house. I'm always barefoot.

Maybe try to improve your circulation ( dry brushing before a shower)

I'm not trying to sound smug but I used to overly feel the cold and this has really helped.

TheShowMustGoOn - I am the same, always gone barefoot in the house as I actually hate socks myself but something happened when I hit my mid-30s and since then I have really felt the cold in my feet! Not proud of it as it makes me feel decrepit, but there you go!
I don't feel the cold elsewhere and the only thing I can think is that I lost a lot of weight over the last couple of years so maybe now I'm slim I simply don't have the layer of extra insulation to keep me warm! Not quite sure why it affects only my feet though!

I'm on emsyj's side on this one - and I'd slip a small measure of Bailey's into the hot chocolate. For medicinal purposes only, mind.

"For medicinal purposes only, mind."

of course!

Or you could try the USB slippers I saw advertised, assuming that you're spending most of your time on mumsnet anyway www.find-me-a-gift.co.uk/usb-heated-slippers.html

Absolutely hilarious, who comes up with these ideas?!
