To not buy my son a ps2 for Christmas on the following grounds?

1 - he has already had 2 at different times and he smashed them both up during meltdowns. He's autistic and at that time was VERY aggressive! However, he's far calmer now. A much more gentle boy. I don't think he would hurl one to the ground these days!

2 - he already has a wii that he never uses, a psp that he never uses and a tv (hooked up to dvd player only) that he never uses.

He, of course, thinks I am the meanest mum in the universe.

You can buy second hand ps2's for about £50 too, so a trade in of wii or psp would easily cover the cost.

that's a good idea, except his brother would be very upset!

I've got him a couple of new games for the wii! - thinking it might make him interested again! a home version of those really frustrating grabber games you get at the seaside arcades. a couple of dvds, some stocking fillers - that kind of stuff.

If a second hand one is only £50, I shall put it to him that he could use his own money!

I got a second hand one for my son who is also asd with other problems gamestation covers you against these sort of breakages he broke his ds in half during a meltdown in the summer and they replaced it just told them he dropped it.

just get an xbox 360 (£30 at CEX) or a PS3. much more modern
