to just not "get" the X factor at all

It actually makes me think some extremely rude words. Bunch of talentless wannabes being judged by some equally talentless slebs. Why why why?

if you don't get it - you don't get it

nothing ur about that

Imisssleeping · 13/12/2009 20:59

mmm don't think the finalists can be described as talentless !

SleighBelleDameSansMerci · 13/12/2009 21:03

Um, I don't get it either so I don't watch it... Are you forced to endure it for the sake of your family? You poor, poor thing if so!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 13/12/2009 21:04

Oh well, not to worry it's the last one tonight!

mayorquimby · 13/12/2009 21:10

not a fan myself but one thing you can't describe simon cowell or louis walsh as is talentless.

I don't get it either, which is why I'm on here tonight

duchesse · 13/12/2009 21:15

Everybody in the house except me is watching and all I can think is that it's the biggest pile of turd I've EVER encountered (can't say watched because I'm doing my best to ignore it).

duchesse · 13/12/2009 21:16

mayor- fair enough- they seem extremely skilled at conning large numbers of people out of cash.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 13/12/2009 21:17

Mayorquimby, I think Simon has a ruthless eye for talent but Louis is rubbish. He's totally out of touch, every year he seems to choose people because they're a) irish and b) look a bit like westlife/boyzone. Whether they can sing or have an ounce of talent is way down his list of priorities!

LadyBlaBlah · 13/12/2009 21:17

Someone on the radio today was saying they can't stand the fact that we all go crazy when someone sings in tune. Like thats not what you are supposed to do when you sing !

paisleyleaf · 13/12/2009 21:20

In spite of Simon Cowell's success, there's something really 'loserish' about him (can't put my finger on it though).

CristinaTheAstonishing · 13/12/2009 21:21

Argh, due to this thread I switched over to X-factor (had had Poirot in the background till now, least offensive on Tv tonight). Now I HATE the fact I know who won the X factor at the very time it happened! I'm a snob.

HumphreyCobbler · 13/12/2009 21:21

I don't get it either, it makes me feel left out.

mayorquimby · 13/12/2009 21:23

may appear that way but you can't argue with his success in the industry. He's embarressing on the show and just wants to pick young boys he thinks he can sell to tweens but i just don't think he's good on tv but he's definitely got talent away from the x factor.

teameric · 13/12/2009 21:30

duchesse I hear you, thank fuck the pile of crap has finished tonight. Talk about dragging it out and milking it for all it's worth

TigersChick · 13/12/2009 21:31

I don't "get" it as a tv format and I don't like the way the Christmas no.1 is pretty much sewn up, but I don't think you can describe the people who win, or the judges as a whole, as talentless.
I've never watched it and wouldn't know any of the winners as winners (IYSWIM - as separate from any hits they may have had) but I don't think you can dismiss them as trash simply because you don't like the tv format.

stillenacht · 13/12/2009 21:35

Tis intriguing for me as a musician that at times of elevated emotion classical music is used in this programme (I don't watch it have just had the misfortune of seeing a few trailers)- why - cos pop music is rubbish!

Made me lol when I thought my neighbours (a little chavvy) where listening to Orff but in fact ,silly me, twas that pile of crap.

tethersjinglebellend · 13/12/2009 21:37

I hate it

Who won?

LittleMontyontheDustyRoad · 13/12/2009 21:37

Even those that don't like it are talking about it.

Can't be bad.

LittleMontyontheDustyRoad · 13/12/2009 21:38

Joe Mcelderry won.

mayorquimby · 13/12/2009 21:42

pop music is not crap. pop music is awesome.

Missy8c · 13/12/2009 22:40

I agree...big pile of shite...only surpassed in it's shiteness by Britain's Got Talent!!!

noddyholder · 13/12/2009 22:42

me too pure garbage

SolidGoldpiginablanket · 13/12/2009 22:47

It tends to pass me by. THough I am old enough to know that there has always been a percentage of pop music which has been made by getting some geeks to write a song and shipping in some or other pretty and obedient session-singing nobody to perform it (Kelly Marie, anyone? Hazell Dean? All those acts that were Jonathan King plus nobodies?). WHat mildly irritates me about the bulk of the X-factory stuff is the insulting laziness displayed by the show's producers when they give this year's z-lister a cover of something like Light My Fire or Yesterday, a bland standard - the only session singers that actually have hits are the ones who have been bought a shiny new song from one or other of the 'hit factories'. Girls Aloud, for instance, have a very good songwriting team or teams, the actual singers who make up the group could be anyone really, it's a fairly random selection of five passably pretty girls who can a) sing in tune and b) will be obedient and grateful.
