BF vs FF - just agree to disagree?

AIBU to think that people could just agree to disagree instead of trying to force whichever viewpoint they support onto others?

Some people want to BF; some want to FF. Does it really matter if someone disagrees with your personal perspective?

groan

scottishmummy · 12/12/2009 20:16

wait until the zealots turn up citing quasi research and bragging how they bf whilst trampolining and they dont understand why other mums dont bf

and see why both side dont agree

lack of emapthy and in sight into someone else situation

NaccetyMac · 12/12/2009 20:18

Doesn't matter if someone has made a decision they are happy with. Matters a lot if someone has been let down or unsupported so they don't get to make that choice.

BelleDameSansTurkey · 12/12/2009 20:19

LOL at image of trampolining BF...

Guess this is an old topic tbut just don't get why it's deemed so black and white.

Sorry but I think this is asinine as a thread subject. If we all agree to disagree about everything, there wouldn't be a talk board would there? There would just be lots of hugs hun, you do what's right for you and whatever you want is right for you.

Just like Netmums. No thanks.

HerBeatitude · 12/12/2009 20:22

Is it deemed black and white? Really? I thought most people on MN are aware that it's far more nuanced, it's only uninformed people in RL that I find take a black and white view on it.

lovechoc · 12/12/2009 20:23

I done a bit of both with DS (first BF and then 4 or 5 months later on went on to FF) so I'm sitting on the fence with my can of Irn-Bru

HumphreyCobbler · 12/12/2009 20:23

I have never seen anyone doing that scottishmummy. Don't assume that if you are pro-breastfeeding you are an insensitive twat. FWIW I formula fed my first child, if there had been more women who actively promoted bf in my life, such as those who are active and helpful on these threads, I might have managed to breastfeed him.

Louby3000 · 12/12/2009 20:24

yikes, this old chestnut. I have to say every thread like this turns into a massively ranty shouty preachy lecture. However, whatever a family decide to do for their baby be that an informed or uninformed decision, in RL unless my opinion is explicitly asked for I would not pass comment, and even then I would just say something neutral. Choice is personal and should be free from judgement.

I am pro-bf and I think that it is better than FF. Personal opinion, but seen as you asked, there you go.

Can I just say, I have infact breast fed whilst trampolining and tis a doddle

scottishmummy · 12/12/2009 20:25

we are adults certain topics are emotive and if you a participate in mn hotties you know that thre will be aggro
bf/ff
working/sahm
are mn perennial argy bargy -and unlikely to be resolved by chins up lets agree to disagree

QandA · 12/12/2009 20:25

Your sentiment is fine, but it is never going to happen, it is the one area where people seem to find it hard to hold any rational thoughts.

On both sides of the debate, people hold stunningly ignorant views, use their own experience as a basis for being offensive and refuse to acknowledge the other's position.

Louby3000 · 12/12/2009 20:29

QandA you are so on the money, its not necessarily about ff/bf but about how people hear and react to the topic.

BelleDameSansTurkey · 12/12/2009 20:31

OK - no idea how to withdraw a thread (if it's even possible) so all please consider me an arse for bringing it up (if you didn't already) and I'll be quiet about this in future...!

Louby3000 · 12/12/2009 20:44

BelleDameSansTurkey · 12/12/2009 20:50

Yep - consider it closed from my perspective!

But you will still get all the 'haven't read the thread but I think...........'

If you do, just reply 'haven't read your replies but I think........
