to think that outdoor xmas ice skating rinks are too expensive?

My kids want to go to the nearest ice rink in the xmas holidays but it's at least 10 quid for adults and 8 for kids (you have to go with them if they're under 12).

Is this too much? I have 2 kids and they want to bring their friends. The usual ice rink in the city is just a couple of quid but they want to go to the xmas ones.

I paid over £15 for dd and I the other weekend and I queried that as I thought it was too much. Those prices are horrendous! Are there any discounts for families?

the edinburgh one is about a pound more expensive than the local indoor skating place - and a lot more than a pound nicer

i guess it depends where you go.

I wouldn't object to the price if the skates weren't so crap. Moulded plastic boots with hockey blades are not suitable for learners. I hired a pair on one occasion and I lasted about 4 minutes before having to come off in agony. Just proves it's purely a money making scheme rather than any attempt to interest people in the sport and that pisses me off. Much as I adore skating and have since I was a sprog I never go to these rinks now. Gorgeous settings but hideous places to skate.
