DD gies to nursery with a Kait and a Tom Clancy

IckleJess · 12/12/2009 20:25

nappyaddict Richard Soles = R Soles

I only got it so quickly because there used to be an R Sole in the phonebook when I was a kid - everytime the new book came out it was a mad rush to see who could find him in there first

I was at school with a Peter Peterson (severe lack of imagination there [hmmm] ) and a Rowan Lake!

IfYouCouldWouldYou · 12/12/2009 23:11

I went to school with a lad called Peter Enis he got the mick taken out of him something rotten.
Also knew a Hazel Berry who's mum was Heather Berry....don't get the Ruby and Millie reference though...think i'm missing something.

MilkNoBrandyForSanta · 13/12/2009 01:06

We had a Cinderella and a Tinkerbell (unrelated) in the year below me at school!

Was a spartacus on the bus the other day (his twin was Bertie...completly different!)

Once knew a Oh-Oh

A friend of mine Has twin younger brothers called Aston and Martin...yes after the car...she also has a brother called Axl Rose...after the singer...i did happen to mention he called himself this as if you move the letters around you get Oral sex!
And a younger sister called Mercy-des (pronounced mercedes) Mae...her name? Sarah!

I do laugh everytime i think of the thought proces her parents had!
Sarahs a bit borinbg isnt it lets go for something "out there" ooh Mercy-des Mae is nice...

Makes my name seem dull

Eve4Walle · 13/12/2009 08:27

I feel sorry for the poor baby in Closer the other week. His parents had 13 kids altogether and another on the way I think...anyway, they named him Vorhees after Jason Vorhees, the killer in the Friday 13th films. Poor, poor little baby.

Oh dear

This reminds me of when ex DH called out a child's name (for the next appointment) and nobody answered. After the third time their mum stroppily said that her daughters name was...

CE - EE - OW - B - AR - N

Her name was siobhan

Ladyvolupta - they do (I teach secondary!). 9/10 drop part of their double-barrelled surnames, too.

nannynobnobs · 13/12/2009 14:31

I was on the bus yesterday and the old lady behind me was called Corinthia! Somebody called her very clearly across the bus.

sausagerolemodel · 13/12/2009 14:52

oh that's interesting spectroscopy. We double-barrelled DS's name. Do they usually drop the first or last half or does it just depend?

pixiestix · 13/12/2009 18:38

Ex boyf taught a girl called "Talmal" - she would get really stroppy when explaining that it was supposed to be pronounced Talima

The name Klee is actually quite growing on me, y'know...

Moominfamily · 13/12/2009 20:40

My mum used to work with deprived kids- she worked with one boy who insisted his name was 'Gooey'. He couldn't read or write, so eventually she contacted his parents as she couldn't believe this was really his name, and they confirmed that it was. They had seen it in a baby book and liked it. When asked to write his name down, it turned out to be 'Guy'.
He'd been called Gooey for 16 years. Such a shame for the poor kid, mum said he was a really nice boy as well, just obviously didn't have a chance.

LouHasSixWhiteBoomers · 15/12/2009 12:43

I was in a shop this morning and there was a little girl called 'Plum'.

Sorry... going back a few posts, but:

GODFACE

Has got to be the single best/worst* name I have ever heard.

  • I haven't decided which yet
Heffthelump · 16/12/2009 13:35

There's a local girl called Serece Pink, I look out for her birthday announcement every year!

cyteen · 16/12/2009 13:43

Godface is brilliant If we ever have another DS I will be putting that at the top of my list. It'll go brilliantly with my surname.

IdrisTheRedNosedDragon · 16/12/2009 13:53

There was a James Bond and a Leo Sayer at my school.

flossie64 · 16/12/2009 14:34

I did think some of these names were a bit , but then I remembered I went to school with 2 brothers Chun Fai and Lamb Chop! to be fair they did change their names at secondary school.

vinocollapso · 16/12/2009 14:49
