My Income support is usually released by the DWP on a friday, so that it clears in my account on a monday. Not had a problem in 18 months. Went to cashpoint yesterday, 59p!! nearly died of heart failure! Phoned DWP, they said they'd paid it, phoned bank, they said they couldn't see it pending. Went back to the cashpoint this morning, STILL no money. Phoned bank again, they still can't see payment pending, so phoned DWP, to get told "oh, sorry, we didn't release it til monday afternoon (I phoned them Monday morning), it should be there by thursday". 1) why did they lie yesterday, I could have asked them not to release the money to my bank and I'd have picked up a counter payment. 2) WHY is it late? they can't give me a reason??!! 3) I can't get a crisis loan as the payment has been released 4) It's a blimmin good job I had £40 stashed in a pot, or the kids wouldn't be getting to school and wouldn't have any electric. MEH to the DWP!!!

Meh is the very least I would like t say to the DWP.

I think you are being v restrained, aksherly.

This happened to my mum on Tuesday! She had to get a crisis loan and they had the cheek to ask her what she'd spend it on (er, for the missed payment dummy)

Meh is too mild I have to say

Glitterknickaz · 09/12/2009 10:12

That's really not on.
If you're on IS then you NEED that money.
Complain, complain, complain!

LOL as they'd released the payment, they refused me a crisis loan??!! When I told them to pull monday's call and listen to it (did that this morning), they rang me back to say that they'd cancelled the BACS payment that wouldn't be there til thursday or friday, and they were going to make a special case and pay me today (by some other form of electronic payment method they rarely use, that I can't remember the name of, that only takes 4 hours to clear). The money still wasn't there at 3.30pm, it FINALLY went in at 5.30pm. I DID however tell them this morning that if they didn't pay me today, I'd not only put in an official complaint, but I'd also contact the newspapers (helps to have a journo relative lol). Got them moving, and I now have money. YAY I can buy electric and food in the morning! STILL a huge massive, double MEH to them!!

Good god, don't get me started with the DWP! My tip (that somebody on here gave me) is to write to your MP. 9 weeks of messing about, and within a couple of hours of them getting a letter off my MP I had a phonecall to say a cheque for £900 was waiting for me at my local jobcentre. Suddenly all the incredible complications with dealing with my case had evaporated...I also got £50 compensation which my MP sorted out for me. Not a lot, but it was nice to see they had admitted they were in the wrong.

Fraser Kemp, Member of Parlement, is ace.

SHAME my MP isn't, but that's about 30 other threads worth.....

We had to get our local MP involved with getting our money out of the DWP as well. Glad you got it sorted.

CardyMow · 10/12/2009 00:57

Still got the other problem with them, but that's a VERY long story . The one my MP is meant to be dealing with but isn't..... Better not start getting grrrr I've got bigger fish to fry in the morning (DS's headmaster, preferably in very hot oil....)
