to expect to be able to find an Angel in the shops

I have been in about 20 different shops today looking for an angel for my xmas tree but no one seems to sell them any more

Am I horribly old-fashioned?

What do you lot put on the top of the xmas tree and does anyone know where I can buy a lovely angel.

TIA

Wilkinsons had some in but they weren't what I would call nice. Some people might lik them though

cookielove · 06/12/2009 20:28

oh i thought that you meant a costume at first, hmmm depends what kind you want, more info???

RustyBear · 06/12/2009 20:54

Can you find a nice small baby doll & dress it up? Our angel is over 50 years old - not sure how old as it's older than I am! - but it's just a baby doll about 5" high in a white dress & foil wings (she has had lots of pairs of wings & haloes over the years)

nannynobnobs · 06/12/2009 20:57

Our Xmas tree is angel- less. Not having seen any in the shops either (and remembering the old family ones ALWAYS fell off because they were top heavy) we like to put something suitably interesting at the top. This year it's a little green Cthulhu with a jaunty Santa hat.

We have an angel from Oxfam, is at least 10 yrs old tho...

Would a star not be trad enough?

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 06/12/2009 21:04

John Lewis had a pink one, but agree that now I think about, haven't seen others.

Minimalist tree this year in vogue?

smokinaces · 06/12/2009 21:13

I have always had a star on my tree. my mum has always had an angel though.

have you tried ebay? a quick search for christmas tree angel brings up nearly 600 results?

Vallhala · 06/12/2009 21:14

Depends what you want, but you might like to Google for Gisela Graham stockists, as they have a very girly angel/fairy.

Other than that, Ebay? Debenhams?

I have a gold star although we always had a fairy or angel when was a child (usually a doll from G Nan's haberdashers shop, dressed in crepe paper!). Now you've got me thinking and the maverick is coming out in me....

MyMamaToldMe · 06/12/2009 21:14

I've just done a quick google search for Christmas tree angel and loads came up.

pinkmagic1 · 06/12/2009 21:14

I got mine from the pound shop. Its a bit tacky but in a nice kind of way!

paisleyleaf · 06/12/2009 21:17

I know it sounds silly, but garden centre?

fledtoscotland · 06/12/2009 21:19

B&Q had loads today

Poppity · 06/12/2009 21:26

Second for garden centre, mine does Gisela Graham stuff. Not sure of your taste, but I think her angels are gorgeous. I have one for the tree and another which holds a tea light. They were both recent purchases.

LauraIngallsWilder · 06/12/2009 21:29

Our angel is one dd made at school a couple of years ago - its the only decoration made by the kids that is actually on the tree!

We all love it
