YANBU a lot of my facebook "friends" can't spell, use text speak or are just thick as shit.

juneybean · 06/12/2009 11:30

I have a lot of nursery nurses/teachers on my FB, and I do have a little giggle when they make mistakes.

GroundHoHoHogs · 06/12/2009 11:42

DS workbook came home with her com ments written inculding the words 'transfering' and 'prehaps' used repeatedly...

Twas all i could do NOT to get red pen out..

Brunettelady · 06/12/2009 11:51

Bad spelling is a slight pet hate of mine. Not that I am a perfect speller and if I have spelt something worng, I have to delete what I have out and type it again spelled properly. I may have a problem. lol.

Text speak is worse, I bloody hate that.

My nan isn't a great speller and we always have a good laugh at her shopping list (she doesn't mind) with her fruite, mild cheeder and others that I can't remember at the moment.

Brunettelady · 06/12/2009 11:52

NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I put worng instead of wrong!! That will annoy me now. Thats not bad spelling though, its bad typing. So its OK. I think. Maybe. (I'ts still bugging me though.)

santaicanexplain · 06/12/2009 11:59

i find the most annoying is teenagers!

i can understand anything they write, my sister is 19 and i have had to tell her to type properly when she talks to me,

im only 25, (when the bloody hell did that happen?) but im getting to the point now where i can relate to them anymore and i dont like it.

Brunettelady · 06/12/2009 12:02

I struggle to read what my 12 year old sister writes on there with all the text speak, When I commented about it, she said I was being nasty etc. Basically there is something she isn't good at (spelling) and she doesn't like being told about it.

sparklefrog · 06/12/2009 13:15

I find it funniest when the people with bad spelling are trying to insult someone on FB.

IE: Your a total looser, thats why I'm giving you a peace of my mind LOOSER!!!!

Ladyanonymous · 06/12/2009 13:21

"I have to type it out again spelled properly" .....ARGH!!!!!! SPELT

Text speak? i take it lol isnt included in that

Brunettelady · 06/12/2009 18:42

Noooo Lady - don't pick something out, that will annoy me now.

Is lol text speak? I thought it was an internet abbreviation like AIBU etc.

I'm going to have to evaluate everything I type now.

crumpetsolo · 06/12/2009 18:48

This is a bit sad, but the one that made me laugh the most was " ** is great at Trivial Persuit" (Not that great obviously if any spelling involved..)

thesunshinesbrightly · 06/12/2009 19:51

Sorry Brunettelady i think you will find it is text speak, but i will, stand corrected if i am wrong.

LMAO

Brunettelady · 06/12/2009 20:54

I always use lol! Now I feel I have to type laugh out loud. All your fault thesunshines if I have to spend longer on the computer now. Laugh out loud.

thesunshinesbrightly · 06/12/2009 21:04

Sorry, i couldnt let it pass

LetThereBeRock · 06/12/2009 21:07

LOL is an internet abbreviation. It's been used online for years now, before texting became commonplace.

addictedtolatte · 06/12/2009 21:12

my cousins wife is a teacher and she has no worries looking down her nose at me. she thinks anyone without a degree is not worth knowing. my joy when i spotted a statement on her facebook page saying are children on a day out. i cant wait to point out to her its OUR children.

thesunshinesbrightly · 06/12/2009 21:17

Do you think so LetThereBeRock?

LetThereBeRock · 06/12/2009 21:23

Well I've been using the net since I was 14, and LOL was certainly used then. I'm now 25 and it's still being used. Texters may have adopted it but I think it's really 'netspeak'.

Brunettelady · 06/12/2009 21:24

Yes thats what I thought. I was using lol years before everyone had mobiles. Sorry thesunshines. LOL.

And addicted, let us know if she says anything. What a terrible mistake for someone of her stature to make. He he.

thesunshinesbrightly · 07/12/2009 08:57

I apologise, i was wrong, i don't mind admitting it, you can calm down and now sleep soundly.

gobsmackedetal · 07/12/2009 09:10

hear hear.

My spelling is close to perfect, but I seem to suffer from some sort of typing dyslexia. I always type -ign instead of -ing and some other similar anagrammatisms, but I'm very consistent with these errors!

Problem is I barely ever read what I write before postign it, so everyone sees

I'm glad you manage to laugh OP, I just manage to get annoyed, especially at the good old "your the love of my life, you're hands are so soft" (I haven't made this up!!!)

And don't get me started on "I should of known". I know this is not a spellign mistake, but when did it become acceptable???

gobsmackedetal · 07/12/2009 09:12

gobsmacked gets out of her dirty critical robe and is now her old good cheery self

pantomimecow · 07/12/2009 09:35

Another bitch fest (yawn)

Brunettelady · 07/12/2009 09:37

Don't read it then.
