To refuse to repeat it?

When DP came home from work he asked me how his DS had done at football. I started telling him and I could tell he wasn't listening. I was just about to tell him about the best bit, a great goal he'd scored and DP turned around and said "umm the washing machine is full, has it finished?"

I said to him "did you hear a word I just said?" and he replied "No, sorry... what were you saying?"

So I said "I'm not repeating it."

Anyway he's in a mood but he does this all the time. I'm sick of him being so ignorent. AIBU?

no- if he can't be bothered to listen to the answer of a question he had asked, then no. YANBU

JjandtheBean · 05/12/2009 18:18

YANBU

men can be complete twonks!

Brunettelady · 05/12/2009 18:22

YANBU. Why ask a question and then not listen to you. Thats just rude.

PurpleEglu · 05/12/2009 18:25

YANBU. I sometimes do this to my 6yo DS. At least he has the excuse of being a child. But if he asks if he can play on his Wii then asks 5 mins later because he didn't listen to me I refuse to answer again and he doesn't get to play.

So, in summary your DH is incredibly rude.

paisleyleaf · 05/12/2009 18:44

Oh I hate this. My DH will sometimes even ask me a question as he's leaving the room, happy to leave me talking to myself.

golgi · 05/12/2009 19:05

YANBU. Happens to me all the time.
He does not hear anything to do with domestic arrangements. "Would you like a beer" on the other hand is always noted first time.

hanababylecter · 05/12/2009 19:09

yanbu i blame the up bringing

Chynah · 05/12/2009 20:51

My husband does this all the time - drives me nuts!

famishedass · 05/12/2009 20:55

YANBU - it's ignorant - if he's not listening stop talking immediately and tell him that when he asks a question he then has to listen to the answer.

On no account repeat yourself.

If all else fails, do the exact same thing to him, see how he likes it.

tethersend · 05/12/2009 20:57

What?

ImSoNotTelling · 05/12/2009 21:00

YANBU it is totally out of order.
