To not get the huge issue with Parking Wardens?

Parking wardens....Get huge amounts of stick, many people are frankly nasty about them and they have to put up with alot of abuse...but why?

Yes ok some are overeager, but why do people scream and shout and bitch about them when they get a ticket for being 2 mins late back to the car or parking in the wrong place for "2 mins"?

Surely the driver is in the wrong for this...dont want a ticket? well follow the rules! you may think its "only 2 mins" but your still 2 mintues late after your ticket ran out!

Or don't park in the wrong space!

They are just doping their job!

After seeing someone screaming at a warden today i just dont get it!

i hate 'em

but i hear they get commission so i might become one

TigerDrivesAgain · 05/12/2009 00:25

er, are you a warden? As someone who got a ticket for parking outside the lines in a totally empty car park (it was Dh who parked it, it was a bank holiday!)I don't feel v sympathetic.

PS. I pleaded the human rights act and got off. Best bit of legal work I have done in 20+ yrs and it was all for me

PPS Or are you a journo?

MilkNoBrandyForSanta · 05/12/2009 00:32

Nope not a warden nor a journo

I'm a nanny if it makes a differance

I've not had the pleasure of encountering one yet but I do wonder if they do get a bit pedantic just because people rant at them so they think well fuck you all I'm gonna slap the ticket on within a second of you going over.

You mean like the lovely parking wardens in Westminster (which has the highest earnings from parking fees in Europe) that ticketed our car for being parked in a disabled space whilst showing a blue badge (on more than one occasion). I think over the years we have successfully appealed nearly a dozen parking tickets and only paid two where we had clearly made a mistake.

At least one of the PCN's was not placed on the car and we got a copy through the post two weeks later. The reason it was not placed on the car was because DH had pulled into the side of a congested road to allow two buses to get past each other and whilst he was pulled in (but still in the car with 3 other people) the traffic warden took the registration number of the car and issued the PCN.

i hate the system in some places - not the wardens. it's a job innit. i hate a jobsworth in any walk of life. this included, but i have ran up to a warden in the past as they were pulling out their pad and they were very nice about the whole thing.

i hate the way that some parking rules are just their to make money rather than ease congestion - rather like traffic cameras IMO

Bleatblurt · 05/12/2009 00:57

If not for wardens I'd never get to park in Edinburgh. Lazy, selfish buggers park in the disabled spaces all the time but move fast when they see the wardens coming.

So YANBU.
