to leave my 2 year old asleep in the car??

We had a lovely morning in a kids cafe, she played and ate and fell asleep on the way home!

She'll wake up if I move her and be a grumpy puss all afternoon, she wont go back to sleep!

Its bright and sunny but bloody cold, shes well padded, has on boots, long sleeved top, cardi and coat, and I've covered her with a double folded blanket

I'm in the kitchen with the fron door open, I can see her, but have a fleec on myself as its bloody cold with the door open!

She's been asleep for an hour almost, but will probably sleep till I need to go get DD1 from school!!

What should I do, shall I bring her in and put up with the grump, she wont freeze will she??

I would bring her in and shut teh front door

Leave her and get a nice cup of tea, in peace!

I leave dd to sleep in the car all the time (she's 2 in Jan). She hasn't frozen yet and she refuses anything other than bare feet!

Well I just checked her, the only part of her showing is her little face which feels nice and toasty, she looks peacefully asleep, so am going to have a cup of tea and a chocolate cake in peace

I think I'm colder than her

I left DD (3.10) in the car asleep yesterday. I wasn't prepared to lift her out, lug her indoors in the rain, disturb her removing wet clothing/boots and then have to disturb her to take her on the school run an hour later.

I had the front door shut and checked on her via the living room window.

no she won't i'm sure, if you keep a good eye on her...but since it is a bit of an inconvenience to you and your own self heating system...?! Have you tried lifting her out of the car and taking her straight upstairs to her own bed?
I have had the same problem with my own DD, she did similar stuff for a bit, but I've taken to taking her straight upstairs, even if she does wake up...Generally she then complains for a bit but seems to settle back to sleep agian within about ten-fifteen minutes...
anyway, feeling your pain, i hate these sort of dilemmas!

Have done this on a few occasions and DD2 is 17m. She's a catnapper, if I move her after being asleep for more than 5 mins, she's wide awke again and very grumpy. I, like you OP leave the front door open and check regularly for warmth etc.

No if I move her sh'll wake up and wont go back to sleep, have tried many times before!
If we're home she will nap in her bed with some resistance but if I wake her now she will be awake as she's slept a bit but stil tired and grumpy!

Both mine are very light sleepers!

Probably too late now but you could always grab a cup of tea and your chocolate cake to eat out in the car with her. Turn the heating up high and read a book. It sounds very stressful having the door wide open and constantly having to check her.
