to think not nice things about my neighbour

I live in an old mansion block of flats and my neighbour is a suave-ish French, chainsmoker in his 60s.

I have NO issue with smokers and smoking, except he smokes so much it fills the communal corridor and my bedroom. This has been a problem since before DS - 14mnths - was born and I broached it nicely with him at the time. He promised to put insulation around his door. He didn't, but I put it around my mine as well as getting a curtain and draught excluder.

They work a little, but most effective thing is opening the window on the landing outside our flats. He regularly closes them, saying I'm wasting energy.

Saturday before last my whole flat smelt of smoke so I opened the windows. He slammed them shut then knocked on my door and started to tell me off for putting a draft in his flat! When I said he wasn't the one who had to sleep in a smoke-filled room with a baby, he started to shout at me, pointing his finger in my face. DS was asleep - thankfully - cos I would have lost my rag and shouted back. In the end I shut the door in his face.

Smoke has been bad on and off all week, and have had to sleep with window open - even though it's freezing and blowing a gale - but tonight am sitting in living room with lights off and DS asleep in his playpen cos there's no breeze to clear the bedroom of the smoke. Am meant to be moving in 2 months but just so annoyed now!!!

He can slowly kill himself with fags if he wants (he actually had a mild heart attack 6 months ago) it's the fact he can't seem to understand my point of view that bugs me.

Right, rant over. Probably am BU on some level, but think I've been pretty fair given that I actually want to smash him in the face.

Sorry this post is so long!
