to think that thread titles, AT LEAST, should be spelled correctly?

I mean, how urgent are most threads, really? Can't the thread titles be re-read at least once?

I'm not even bovvered when it's a commonly mis-spelled word, when someone doesn't realise they're making a mistake: 'loose' and 'lose', or something like that.

But when it's just clearly wrong ...

Tsk.

even when pissed with a sticky keyboard?

i can spell but not with the above problems.

but yes. in general i agree. especially your / you're.

Tee2072 · 29/11/2009 20:51

I actually won't even read a thread if there's a misspelling or bad grammar in the title. It never bodes well for the thread.

MaureenMLove · 29/11/2009 20:51

There really are more important things in life to worry about, aren't there?

It's only an internet chat room. I couldn't give a flying fig tbh!

kinnies · 29/11/2009 20:54

Well I cant spell to save my life so I guess I'm just not worthy of being spoken to.
Meh

Fimbo · 29/11/2009 20:55

I really don't care if things are spelt correctly or not.

JaneiteMightBite · 29/11/2009 20:57

Well....I am an English teacher...and I made a spelling mistake in a thread title today because I was trying to multi-task and dp was being silly too, so I was distracted. I heartily and humbly apologise and will go and stick my head in the oven immediately.

I can spell and I can type but I am usually MNing whilst doing at least one other thing and in the grand scheme of things a few typos or spelling mistakes seem such a little thing to make a huge, sniffy fuss about on here.

MaureenMLove · 29/11/2009 20:57

I wondered about that Fimble! (But only briefly, because I don't care that much!)

teameric · 29/11/2009 20:58

I'm not bovvered

FabIsVeryLucky · 29/11/2009 20:59

bovvered????

Jacaqueen · 29/11/2009 20:59

Some people can't spell have dyslexia or don't have English as a first language.

BelfastBloke · 29/11/2009 21:00

Fimbo, can I direct you to the Oxford English Dictionary?

"I'm not even bovvered when it's a commonly mis-spelled word" pot and kettle?

ilovepiccolina · 29/11/2009 21:05

teameric, I think she was being 'ironic'.

MmeLindt · 29/11/2009 21:07

Is it spelled then, or spelt? I am never sure of that.

teameric · 29/11/2009 21:07

oh who gives a shit

Spelt or spelled - either can be used. Must admit I prefer spelled, as spelt always makes me think of grains.

CoteDAzur · 29/11/2009 21:11

YANBU. It pisses me off and I'm not even a native speaker of English.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 29/11/2009 21:12

Personally I would have put..'to think that thread titles, should, at the very least, be spelled correctly?'

Somehow your thread title just doesn't scan 'naicely' BB.

Ronaldinhio · 29/11/2009 21:14

unclench

VengefulKitty · 29/11/2009 21:15

Both spelled and spelt are perfectly acceptable.

I have no problem with spelling mistakes as you never know the reason why the mistake has been made.

I even have a spell checker as I type as I use Firefox, just like you have when using Word, yet if I am inebriated or tired, I tend to miss the red underlining and can often leave a post with errors in.

You also have to account for literacy disabilities....

Earthstar · 29/11/2009 21:20

Do you want to ban dyslexics from mumsnet?

MmeLindt · 29/11/2009 21:22

Oh, I did not know that Firefox has a spell checker. Is that an add on?

Fimbo · 29/11/2009 21:22

That's just what I mean, spelt,spelled who gives a 4x. I don't care about anything, me.

halfcut · 29/11/2009 21:23

I couldn't care less tbh ..tis only a message board not an english exam
