AIBU to not understand thongs?

I hate them! I don't get how having a strip of material shoved up your arse is comfortable or attractive. They seem to make even the lingerie models look bad, which is quite an achievement, and they're so blimmin' obvious! I don't get why men find them sexy!

What's wrong with a nice lacy pair of French knickers?

Nope Big Knickers for me! (What a surprise!)

Not interested in feeling like I've got a wedgy all day.

Sod VPL

PurlyQueen · 28/11/2009 18:16

YABU.

Thongs are v comfy and there's no chance of VPL.

To anyone who complains about thongs feeling like dental floss .. they are too small and you need to go up a size (or two)*...

Scootergrrrl · 28/11/2009 18:23

We went swimming today in our local German pool and saw two old blokes - 70 if they were a day! - wearing thongs. One was red and the other was a rainbow pattern.
They had their entire bum on show and much of what was at the front too. DD was fascinated.....

Have to say it didn't LOOK particularly comfortable!

i love thongs. i feel sexier in them and never wear knickers anymore

wahwah · 28/11/2009 21:12

Every underwear style has a season. I am usually ahead of the pants pack and was the first to move from thongs to big pants -it just felt right for a change. i briefly toyed with super big PE pants, but I am now back to bikinis with proper arses in them.

So YANBU, thongs are not ok except for flesh toned ones to prevent vpl, but vpl is BACK!

juicychops · 28/11/2009 21:16

i always wear thongs. i find pants uncomfortable now and dont like vpl

Sidge · 28/11/2009 21:51

I don't wear underwear at all unless I'm wearing a skirt (which is about twice a year).

Thongs are pointless really. They pretty much just cover your pubes - what's the point of that?

juicychops · 28/11/2009 21:57

dont you get camel toe wearing trousers with no underwear??

meltedchocolate · 28/11/2009 22:04

aparebtly thongs are common in younger women...

I must be the exception then... i cant stand them. They DO NOT look sexy.... i look great in little shorties..... just the right amount on show to get any man flustered and excited

WEARING THONGS LEAVES NOTHING TO THE IMAGINATION - if it's easy access you are looking for go for a pair of slit panties... now that is sexy......

meltedchocolate · 28/11/2009 22:05

thats apparently

Sidge · 28/11/2009 22:12

no camel toe here juicychops - I don't wear my trousers that tight!

I'm tempted to get a few pairs of these but as I have fat thighs I think I'd look stupid and feel really uncomfortable as they'd just ride up into my leg crease IYKWIM.

juicychops · 28/11/2009 22:16

i have them but cant wear them under clothes. i just wear them to lounge around in in the evenings when its warm. i think they are quite sexy actually

meltedchocolate · 28/11/2009 22:19

These are the shorties i am talking about. They are all i wear. (very sexy with really long socks and a nic bra - for me anyway) Sorry sidge i am skinny so dont know if they would ride up or not but my sis has big thighs and i dont think she has had that problem.....

PurlyQueen · 28/11/2009 22:46

VPL is never a good look. There's nothing worse than seeing the imprint of a 'VW' under someone's trousers. (Google the VW logo and you'll see what I mean!)

carrielou2007 · 28/11/2009 22:52

Why would anyone wear big pants insted of a thong?????

Thongs are so comfy, they only cut you in half if you wear a size 10 when you should be wearing a size 14

I hate seeing the top of a thong with low cut jeans (very common) but hate hate hate seeing the shape of someone's big pants through their trousers!!

I may be 35 weeks pregnant but I am still wearing thongs!!

meltedchocolate · 28/11/2009 23:37

OK can i just say i am a size 8-10 and have size 12-14 thongs and THEY STILL RIDE UP MY ARSE! (and yes i also have thongs that fit 'right' , that is why i have the bigger thongs)

jasper · 28/11/2009 23:41

Nothing like a thong for getting rid of VPL.

Take a bit of getting used to , but your bum crack soon toughens up. Just like getting used to flip flops.

I don't let anyone see my bum in just a thong though. Not nice.

meltedchocolate · 28/11/2009 23:43

I have no more problem with VPL with my panties than my shorts.

Heres a thought -- stop wearing your clothes too tight

thelunar66 · 28/11/2009 23:45

I'm a size 10 to 12 and bought size 16 thongs and they still crawl up my arse and irritate the life out of me.

Should I be buying a size 18 or 20 then?

muggglewump · 28/11/2009 23:48

I find thongs comfy. They just rest in your arse crack, you aren't meant to rive them up ie!

I have loads of different ones and shorts, from lacy and satin, to embroidered, see through, ribbon tied, plain cotton, to Shaun the Sheep and Spongebob ones!

I hate knicker shaped knickers though, They wedge up my butt and if they're not doing that, they are giving me the four arse cheek look which is really not attractive.

Mind you, you have to choose any underwear carefully. There's nothing worse than walking behind someone who has made the wrong choice, and yes woman with weird yellow terry towelling skirt with blue thong under and a rather cellulitey arse in Tesco last week, I mean you.

meltedchocolate · 28/11/2009 23:49

LOL at your tesco lady muggglwump

meltedchocolate · 28/11/2009 23:51

oh i just realised i wrote 'shorts' instead of 'thongs' on my second to last (now thirsd to last) post!!

wouldya · 29/11/2009 09:31
Grin
frakkinaround · 29/11/2009 14:48

Okay, I'm now quite tempted to try and experiment....I am a small size 10, so shall go out and buy thongs in a 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 and report back. Still not convinced though.

cocobongo this is exactly why I'm posting. I don't understand why the mid-range bras seem to come with thongs or huuuuuuge knickers. My Aubade ones have a lovely range of bottoms to go with them and the cheap ones don't fit but I don't really want to pay £80 a pop for a bra and £50 for matching bottoms!
