Just got back from a gig that finished at 9:45... is this normal these days?[gimmer emoticon]

I mean I know the band are getting on a bit now, but what time must it have started? I needed to have a nap before going
so didn't go down there until 9 o'clock... am a bit miffed really.

BrilliantDisguise · 27/11/2009 22:33

nope, not normal - well, all the gigs I've been to lately haven't even had the main act on till 10ish, then wrapped up at 11.

How old? was it the Wurzels?!

MNA were old when I was at school 20 years ago. I seem to recall the 5th year lads liking them.

ravenAK · 27/11/2009 22:39

Birmingham 02 Academy?

They're buggers for it, all these chain venues. They like to put a club on after & get a new load of punters in.

Quite fancied seeing them in Manchester tomorrow - always a good show! But no babysitter. Pah.

BrilliantDisguise · 27/11/2009 22:46

What little I saw was good ravenak! Still a lot of power there... just v surprised as Justin and co don't exactly need their beauty sleep

No, indeed! Although it might make him better tempered - used to know him a bit through an ex-bf & he was a thoroughly miserable git.

They do have very polite moshpits these days, NMA. Last time I saw them was about 5 years ago. The front was full of chaps with more girth & less hair than the heyday, picking each other up & dusting each other down. V sweet!

heartofgold · 27/11/2009 22:53

that's shocking last week i had to ring my mum from he venue and break it to her gently that since the band weren't on until 10pm and the bar was open til half 12 we weren't likely to be back before 1. bless her twas water off a duck's back.

Hulababy · 27/11/2009 22:55

I think quite a few concerts end between 10-10:30pm these days, esp int he big arenas and outdoor venues.

CaptainRex · 27/11/2009 22:57

What the hell time did they start?

Btw Im soo jealous I love NMA. Saw them years ago in bradford - they were brilliant

borderslass · 27/11/2009 23:00

was at U2 in august and they finished at about 10 due to noise disturbance laws I think the venue gets fined if they over run.

BrilliantDisguise · 27/11/2009 23:13

CaptainRex- no idea what time they started... ticket said 6:30 doors, but I just assumed main act would be 9:30, an hour's set and a couple of encores, finish around 11... isn't that standard?

CaptainRex · 27/11/2009 23:15

i would have expected them to start at 9 tbh but no way with a 9.45 finish.

Sounds like they started at 8. We must all be getting old

Hulababy · 27/11/2009 23:16

I think Take That finished around 10 also.
