to think it's nothing to do with my friend if I want to 'recycle' something

I've got some L plates that I'm giving away free and I had it as my facebook status and a friend just messaged me saying "random status" and I asked where else she expected me to advertise to which she replied "the bin"

Is there something wrong with giving something away free which may be of use to someone?

and yeah I probably should have more stuff to worry about but it's really riled me.

You should have more stuff to worry about. Now that is out of the way... I am using my sisters L plates and recycling is a good thing. No matter what they Thing is....

I'm with you.
Try Freecycle (or Freegle)

Firawla · 26/11/2009 23:03

yanbu your friend is extremely rude

juneybean · 27/11/2009 11:57

Thanks pookamoo, I've got them on MN too as I forgot about the free area.

What does random status mean?

None of her business what you do with them and someone might be glad to have them.

juneybean · 27/11/2009 12:09

Like she was saying my status was a bit random.

I only signed up to Facebook on Tues and I'm already regretting it.
Not that I've anything to hide - I just want people to think I am mysterious and enigmatic and do have something to hide.
Rude friend though, OP, but probably just making conversation, of a sort.

No problem with recycling things but I do think a facebook status is a bit of a strange place to offer them...

Unless what you are ACTUALLY doing is advertising that you no longer need L plates because you passed your test...

Otherwise, try freecycle

juneybean · 27/11/2009 19:32

Not at all I past 2 years ago. But figured it'd be easier to give it to someone local than having to post it lol but never mind

Why has the word "random" taken on a new meaning lately? It now seems to mean uncool whereas before it just meant...well, random!

Anyhow, you are more than entitled to give thing away on FB, especially if you want to give them to a friend as opposed to a rude stranger, which seems to be the new thing on freecycle, judging by other threads!

And recycling is good for the environment!

Your friend was BU but she probably didn't mean in a bad way and I don't think it should spell the end of the friendship or anything like that!

juneybean · 27/11/2009 20:33

Oh god no of course not, we went for coffee today haha, I was just so riled by her "put it in the bin" lol

Now I might be spelling the end to ownership of a cat if anyone wants one, he's driving me mad!
