To love swearing...

I quite enjoy swearing (time and place allowing) It can be quite hilarious (think Malcolm Tucker from The Thick of It)and it really doesn't offend me when done properly, iykwim.

One of the things I like about Mumsnet is that posters aren't treated like teenage miscreants - no words are censored, you can say what you like (more or less) and many a time I've found myself spraying coffee all over my screen at some foul-mouthed turn of phrase...

I use another forum (not a parenting one) and it REALLY pisses me off when words are blanked out by the cat's- bum- mouth swear filter. We can't even say 'tit'.

MN swearing is fucking brilliant! One of many things you get to do on here than you don't get to do in front of real life twat-traps. I do see people chastising others for swearing on here though, as if that's how they behave in front of their children etc. FFS it's a release!

vinocollapso · 23/11/2009 16:23

I love swearing, I love it. It's big and it's clever and nothing gets the point across like a good expletive.

'It's all gone to cock' is my favourite at the moment, but 'fuckity fuck' always has a place in my heart as that the one my mum uses a lot!

I also like using the c word in normal conversations, such as, 'have you seen that rain out there, it's cunting it down.'

So no - YANB twatting U! x

chegirl · 23/11/2009 16:27

I love swearing. My favourite is FUCK.

Sometimes nothing else will do. Fuck off, fuck right off you knob, well fuck me sideways - love it.

I have a secret little passion for Ms Lily Allen's music. She has a wonderful song on her second album called 'Fuck you' 'fuck you very very much, cos we hate what you do and we hate your whole crew......'

I have a good old sing along to that in the car. Trouble is I work with children and its really hard to to sing it at totally inappropriate moments

quidnunc · 23/11/2009 16:31

This is why I swear:

As a teenager, at school I remember being with a teacher (teacher A) when he completely ignored a friend of mine when he swore. Another teacher (B) also heard, and asked Teacher A why he had not repremanded the pupil.

The response was: "Because it was an entirely appropriate use of language, in my opinion. One can hardly say 'Fuck off, he hinted', can one?".

Teacher A walked off with me, and described teacher B as a "Bowlderistic twat"

Teacher A became a bit of a personal hero...

quidnunc · 23/11/2009 16:31

...so YANBU

Purplebuns · 23/11/2009 16:33

Can't beat twathead, Jeeezus fucking christ+ IN HEAVEN! And explosive SHIT! Sorry Christians, I do blaspheme profusely and creatively.

nickelbabe · 23/11/2009 17:12

don't worry about it purplebuns - i swear in church all the time (after the service, obviously).
god can hear me swear anytime i do it: why should i stop doing it just because i'm in church? that would be hypocritical.

theminniebauble · 23/11/2009 17:37

Swearing simply cannot be beaten. I personally don't think that I look as if butter wouldn't melt in my mouth but people are always shocked and horrified at my potty mouth.

Particularly enjoy fuck-piece as an insult-"you complete fuck-piece". I also like Knobchops as a term of endearment.

To be honest I am always thrilled about any sort or puerile language. Roger's Profanasaurus is one of the most well-thumbed books I own. I will restrain myself from relaying all of my favourites, however suffice it to say that I'm looking forward to the midwife having a peep through the butcher's window when I'm in labour in about a month or so.

MintyCane · 23/11/2009 17:52

What a load of Wanky Crap !

MintyCane · 23/11/2009 17:56

Was I too rude ?

mayorquimby · 23/11/2009 17:58

"have a secret little passion for Ms Lily Allen's music. She has a wonderful song on her second album called 'Fuck you' 'fuck you very very much, cos we hate what you do and we hate your whole crew......"

about the bnp that song is i fi remember correctly.

swearing is awesome. the word fuck is the most expressive word in the english language and nothing has quite the same impact as cunt.
and with regards to people who say wearing is unnecessary,as stephen fry said,"well so is everything in life which is fucking enjoyable."

chegirl · 23/11/2009 18:29

My DD never heard me swear. My kids are not allowed to swear (they are not allowed to do a lot of things I am ). But when she was on vile, horrible treatment for cancer I used to whisper in her ear 'go on say it!' and she was allowed to say 'fuckingbloodybastards!!!' just once, loudly.

Her face was a picture afterwards, she felt so norty!

McSnail · 23/11/2009 18:34

What a lovely thread. I am a linguist by training, and it is very fine to use some of those words, my goodness yessss. The French "putain" just pings off the tongue, especially if it comes out with a slightly Marsellais twang, which I learned from a friend (only that word), and Russian's got an equivalent word (pardon me) blyad (izvinjajus' dorogie damy!), which is glossed as "blin" (pancake), very nicely approximating "sugar" from "shit"! And blin can be extended to another syllable for extra emphasis: buh-leen! It feels good, for some reason.

Mind you, a good old Anglo-Saxon bloodyfucking hell is satisfying.

And - oh! - has anyone seen "In Bruges"? It is as brilliant as the sparkles from a faceted, frozen shit. Mwah.

Lotster · 23/11/2009 23:48

Love "In Bruges".

I also like swear word extensions.

Cockknocker
Fuckstick
Fuckchops
Fartknocker
Knobjockey
et al

my husband calls me a titwhistle quite frequently.. He's told me to reign in my potty mouth now son is older and might pick up on it soon..

Yuletidespamlog · 23/11/2009 23:57

The word "Thundercunt" makes me snigger like a little girl

Taramuddle · 24/11/2009 09:01

My favourite is fuckwit, it sounds good & high brow to level at someone when they are being just that.

As a minor swear 'oh turds' is great.

Best swearing song is 'Killing in the name of' with such satisfying use of 'fuck you I won't do what you tell me' & 'motherfuckerrrrrr'!

I used to work in an office where there was a great deal of creative swearing, I miss it a bit!

This thread is highly enjoyable. Keep up the good work

Finally took all my composure not to call the cashier a cunt in tesco's the other day for saying I was a thief for letting dd (3) eat 5 grapes before checkout. I think there was no better word in the circumstance. (spend over £100 pounds there each week, 2.8 billion profits last year...grumble grumble) oh fuck them bunch of fuckmonkeys!

catastrojb · 24/11/2009 09:41

dh has never let me forget that just after he proposed and i said yes, he said that i thought i would say no - to which my reply was something along the lines of "of course i was going to say yes, you dickhead!". as i said, i am not given to swearing, but he is - and hates that particular word! he still wishes he had rescinded the proposal...

i do know a wonderful sounding very choice phrase in dutch, but have absolutely no idea how to write it down! sorry...

PopsyWind · 24/11/2009 10:34

WobblyWench - I also love arse biscuit. (The phrase not the !!) Me and DH use it all the time - I always wonder where it came from - do you know?

My sister uses 'cunther' - not sure if she made it up...

MoChan · 24/11/2009 10:54

Always been a big fan of fuckwit, but I have been trying to stop using it of late altogether for fear of my two year old saying it to old ladies on the bus. Sadly, she is already using the phrase "Oh bugger".

Whoops.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 24/11/2009 10:59

Fuck the fuck off

domesticslattern · 24/11/2009 11:02

God I love swearing. Unfortunately DD (just coming up to two) does too. I am strangely proud at the way she says FUCK when she drops her toys, while also realising it is Not Very Good Parenting on my behalf. It is almost like having tourette's, I just can't stop swearing around her.

I learned my fave swear from MN- tit weasel.

girnythecat · 24/11/2009 11:18

Recently I was teaching my DS about letters and initial sounds.
Me "f is for fox"
DS "you says fox mummy"
Me " Do I sweetheart"
DS "You say it in the car,you say for fox sake"

ginnny · 24/11/2009 11:22

Yuletide - Thundercunt is ace!! I must remember that
I reign myself in when the dc are in earshot (most of the time anyway ) but when they aren't about I swear like a navvy and love it.
DP gets all poker faced because he doesn't like women swearing but I just tell him to fuck off!!!

Longtalljosie · 24/11/2009 11:32

I love swearing. In my world though, nuts is a proper grown-up swearword. I get as much satisfaction from saying it as I do saying fuck or similar...
