Not a rant or complaint but just wanted to tell travelling mums how good the baby facilities are here (On the M4). A complete feeding station with mircowave, bottle warmer, plastics pots and spoons and a notice saying to ask for water. In the changing area there are free wipes etc and proper changing mats and chairs for bf. Was also offered help about five times as I carried my coffee and car seat to a table. In the light of my previous post about the UNhelpfulness of National Express trains (of their recent demise on the East Coast line I shall say nothing!)I just wanted to report what a contrast MOTO services are and suggest that the Health and Safety reasons given for not helping / providing amenties must surely be bogus?

I like Telford services.

Lotster · 21/11/2009 19:35

Now I like Leigh Delamere and use it regularly when I drive to Devon, but my favourite is Tebay Services, near the Lake District on the M6!!

Homemade pies, fresh coffee, it's award winning you know

Goblinchild · 21/11/2009 19:40

Ronaldinhio, I take it you've not done much unaccompanied travelling with a baby and had to use motorway services.
I still stop off at this place whenever I'm heading west, even though my two are 15 and 18. It was the fact someone carried my tray whilst I was trying to carry it and wheel the buggy simultaneously that almost made me weep with gratitude.

Ronaldinhio · 21/11/2009 19:50

darling
i've travelled extensively worldwide and I find that the problems that you encounter, especially with child travel, are often, upon examination, to do with mental expectation levels
they aren't made from spun sugar

MollieO · 21/11/2009 19:51

When I stop at service stations I just hope that no one has peed on the floor. Anything else is a bonus.

Ronaldinhio · 21/11/2009 19:51

alos goblin are you saying you need this alth9ough your children are fully functioning adults almost???

ck...rrrriiiist

Goblinchild · 21/11/2009 20:02

No you twerp, nor do mine still need buggies.

I was merely saying that that particular service station is linked to a memory of past kindnesses that made my life a little easier for a moment. So was agreeing with trixie in her recommendation.
Was there today in fact, taking daughter to an open day at a uni. Good hot chocolate, she paid.

seeker · 21/11/2009 20:05

Oh another vote for Tebay!!!!

,seeker ignores all sarcasm and irony and goes for the service station with the barbecue and the fab shops that is on the way to Scotland!

Ixia · 21/11/2009 21:27

Tebay (Westmorland) services rock - we used to go there just for tea and cake

They even have their own website...

www.westmorland.com/tebay

PurpleCrazyHorse · 21/11/2009 22:18

We love Leigh Delamere services too which is handy as it's also half way between home and old friends in London - in fact, we mostly only stop at Moto services!!

M&S Simply Food for the win yum
