to spend my winnings on something for me?

I came by £150 recently (thanks MN!) and i'd really like a new camera. My last one got stole last spring and i've been without ever since.

Dh has suggested I use this winnings towards christmas presents for our many nephews and neices. We are a bit poor at the mo so this would in theory be ideal but I am feeling a bit resentful and want to spend it on me.

Is this shockingly selfish?

nah, spend it on yourself

your nephews and nieces will be getting all manner of tat that they'll probably forget about by next year - you'll enjoy your camera for AGES

I think it would be one thing if you were spending it on your own kids, but not nephews and neices (mind you, I'm a tad jaded because my nephews are all very ungrateful despite us spending hundreds of ounds on them voer the years to keep up with their very expensive demands..this is BIL's 2 kids and not my sisters...)

Its EXTRA money - you'd have needed to buy Christmas presents for nephews and neices anyway - the rule is that you can spend extra money on things you wouldn't have bought anyway
