AIBU to be upset about crap start rite shoes?

Hi,

Brought my LO Felicety Wishes Shoes - a Start Rite make from independent shoe shop. We had to exhange them a week later as the flashing lights no longer work (failed after less than 2 days of barely being used), the new pair did the same about a week later so thought sod it, as couldn't be bothered to go through hassell of exchanging yet another pair (had to wait a week for the 1st pair).

Now 2 months on one of the shoes tips is coming away from rest of shoe. Shop rang Start Rite and they said to send in but would take 2 weeks to make a decision whether to replace or not.

Can anyone advise on what I should do, as I really do think the shoes should have lasted longer than 2 months, as all my previous pairs have been great - in fact last pair was still going strong several months later.

Shop said they can't give me another pair of shoe whilst waiting for original to be sorted, but I really don't want to have to buy another pair of shoes whilst having to wait possibly more than 2 weeks for Start Rite to get their act together. The shoes weren't cheap to begin with - £39 more than I would usually pay.

Am so cross and my LO upset that her shoes are going to have to be sent away. Do you think I am being AIBU to expert better quality of service from Start Rite?

YANBU! I'd expect alot longer than 2 months. I really rubbish at standing my corner at taking things back but I think this seems worth it tbh.

YANBU. I'd contact Start-rite direct, details below.

Startrite shoes should lastlongerthan that, hell, any shoes should last longer than that. i think its the shop taking the piss, I've had dealing with startrite themselves before and they have been really good.

I rang up Startrite - thanks Ixia for link - they said it has to go back through shop but that they would aim to get shoes back to us before the 2 weeks.

Shop wouldn't give me another pair to tide us over, as is small independent shop. So have restorted to buying a cheap pair of black shoes as we have a christening to attend this w/end and someone don't think PE Pumps would look good with a dress on my LO!

Have sent a letter to Start Rite and copied shop into it, so who know if that will generate a response or not.

Anyway I will let you know the outcome... am parnoid that SR will say "Oh it ok just normal wear and tear blah blah" but we'll see.
