Some people just moan about everything and every little thing is a HUGE drama, "oh god I cracked a nail" "oh no PFB hasnt poohed for 1/2 days, best get to GP" "I really dont know what to do i only have £200 for christmas"!!

I sometimes would just loveee to say, "oh shut up you have no idea what a real problem is, try living someone elses life to see what real hardship is"

So AIBU?
BTW I have never done it but is sooooo tempting

well, most people get on with it.

they also come on here for a good moan and cry.

tis what mumsnets for.

InMyLittleHead · 18/11/2009 21:44

Yeah, I think a lot of people use Mumsnet for things that they don't feel they can burden anyone else with. Plus there seem to be a lot of people who think they're overreacting and they're really not... so yes YABU

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 18/11/2009 21:45

YABU - because their seemingly insignificant problem may be the final straw.

And their life may well be worse than yours

HerBeatitude · 18/11/2009 21:50

No, I don't think yabu for thinking it.

I do think ywbu to actually post it though, for the reasons others have already said

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 18/11/2009 21:52

Ok lease I know now And yes pretty sure many peoples lifes are a lot worse than mine

YANBU - I know quite a few people like this in RL (unfortunately!)

Theres a guy in my office for example who is OBSESSED with the fact other people are somehow dodging their calls, which he ends up taking (they're not, we have a random phone system, he gets no more calls than anyone else!) he will spend hours moaning/ranting on and on and on......all the time I'm sitting there listening patiently whilst all I really want to say is FFS, find something really worth moaning about or shut up!

IME, it tends to be the people who really have stuff to complain/moan about who are the ones that say the least!

mamalino · 18/11/2009 22:02

Glitterknickaz · 18/11/2009 22:08

I'm very aware that I have to get on with it. Having a rant sometimes is good for you though.

See, I always have sympathy for anyone moaning about being pregnant because it flattened me both times, so much so that I am never ever ever getting pg again.

My SIL on the other hand, is always having a moan on facebook. SOMETHING is always wrong in her life, whether it's her car, or the weather, or she's tired... She has no kids, works a part time job while pursuing her dream career, lives in a fab city and has a great relationship with my brother! DH & I read her posts and snigger at the thought that someday she'll have children. (she's lovely really, just a bit of a moaner!)

Tortington · 19/11/2009 01:20

i think it's all relative.

if i went through life with the mantra that i was not worthy enough to have a moan and gripe becuase i didn't have a dead child/husband/other family member or a disabled child/husband/family member, i think i would be a v. emotionally sad person.

there is always someone worse off than you in the world somewhere. i don't think thats a reason to to belittle others experiences even if they aren't as severe/dramatic/damaging

Poohbearsmom · 19/11/2009 01:31

Not unreasonable to think it... Could be to actually say it... My friend once left the phone down to put the kettle on while i was on the other end telling her all my woe's, she then came back made of few sympathetic noises, put it down again, made her tea got a biscuit & came back to me still blabering on not having had any idea she had not been listening all along... She told me this at a much later date & also that she'd gone for an apple another day when i was also woe'ing... But i got a few sympathetic noises when i needed them so never knew, my advice is go Make a cupa instead & suck it up for ur friends
