we can afford it but is it a bit of a waste in you opinion?

it feeds 10-12 and we have 5, so there would be plenty left over, which i would use in risottots and pies and a noodle dish

anyone know if the skin the inside birds on this things?

heres the one im thinking of ordering

That thing looks like a chicken and a pig who got up a bit toooooo close!

But re money, why not if you can afford to? - loads of people will spend a lot more on rubbish pub/restaurant food for Christmas.

Clowance · 18/11/2009 23:29

Well I will be eating a goose or turkey from the garden and avoiding the whole cost issue

Op- your money, your choice. Food is a great part of christmas though and something to look forward to.

mumeeee · 18/11/2009 23:34

I would rather go out for Christmas Dinner than spend that much on a dinner that I have to cook.

serinBrightside · 18/11/2009 23:51

Gruesome.

(But good value when you consider how many it is feeding).

MrsMerryHenry · 18/11/2009 23:52

Woo-hoo! I'm going to carrie's for Xmas...!

For those of you who think it sounds gross, btw - you really ought to try it first. It's fabulous.

perfectstorm · 19/11/2009 00:16

If you can afford it and it would give your Xmas more fun, YANBU at all. Take a piccie, though, and pop it on your profile? I've always wondered what a slice of one of them looked like - so you'll be adding to my Yuletide joy too!

NeedaNewName · 19/11/2009 21:33

Wow - DH is actually considering ordering one for us - yippee!

After we thought about it was a bit concerned about the taste, however a work colleague had one last year and apparently they're really really tasty.

So you never know....

pointydogg · 19/11/2009 21:44

It feeds 12 and there are 5 of you?

Groans all round come the 27th. Not another triple-stuffed bit of bird!

nappyaddict · 10/12/2009 12:05

The Aldi ones are nice if you cook them properly or they dry out. I didn't think the cranberry stuffing was very nice last year so this year I will go for sage and onion.

For anyone that wants to try one don't follow the cooking times on the packet, stick a metal thermometer in the thigh at the start of cooking and when it reaches the required temperature get it out. Cook it from defrosted rather than frozen, baste it every 15 minutes and put some water in the bottom of the roasting tray and it will stop it from drying out and keep it nice and moist.

I guess that means things have turned around for you now, you've had a rotten year at times so enjoy your dinner !
