to thorughly dislike the fact that I have pages in Mumsnet and long for the continuous threads back?

The only thing that gets my through my tube journey in the morning is to pull up a long and preferably controversial thread on my mobile before I lose signal, so I can distract myself from the horror of being packed in with other commuters.

But over the weekend, MN changed. And now if you're not logged in then every thread comes up divided into pages with perhaps a dozen posts on each one. No good at all for a tube ride because you have to download each separate page (which takes forever, even when you do have signal).

It's pretty annoying at home, but at least I can log on and avoid the issue. (Although I used to prefer not to log on unless I had something specific to post.) I can't log on from my mobile at all.

AIBU? Is there a huge advantage I'm missing?

YANBU, I'd like the single page back too!

tiredlady · 16/11/2009 15:06

YANBU
These pages are extremely annoying.
Shall we start a petition?

GrungeBlobPrimpants · 16/11/2009 15:07

Can you not log in on your mobile then?

I've never seen the pages as my computer remembers me.

elliephant · 16/11/2009 15:11

Yep its horrible but you can customise your page

ItsAllaBitNoisy · 16/11/2009 15:16

I use the "stay logged in" thing, and I've always had pages..

tigerbear · 16/11/2009 15:25

YANBU - it's driving me mad too!

CinnabarRed · 16/11/2009 15:58

I'm not sure why I can't log in from my mobile - perhaps because MN only recognises me if I log in from my laptop?

Glad it's not just me, I wondered if I was being a numpty!

Although one silver lining is that I have wasted spent less time on MN today...

YANBU- it's annoying.

oldraver · 16/11/2009 16:04

I've never had 'pages' on MN and have often wondered when I see people post "I got to page three" etc etc what they meant

MistletoeNoelPresents · 16/11/2009 16:05

I customised MN so have no pages and threads read from OP at the top.

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/11/2009 16:06

You should be able to log in from any phone, so I think it's you I'm afraid, and therefore declare you unreasonable.

bruffin · 16/11/2009 18:09

I have mine customized as well but it means you have to log in every time, one computer I use doesn't keep the log in.

WhereYouLeftIt · 16/11/2009 18:19

Like oldraver I've never had pages on threads either. And I've never knowingly customised anything, except to have the threads displayed oldest post first rather than the newest-first that it defaulted to. Was that enough to "save me" from the pages ?

Could a MN techie come on here and tell us how it works please?

bruffin · 16/11/2009 19:32

I think you need to have the "messages on the page" setting in customize set to "unlimited"

bruffin · 16/11/2009 21:35

Oooh it's all gone back to normal

bruffin · 16/11/2009 22:07

no it hasn't
