BIG big apologies if I am sounding a little ungrateful here but need to talk about this and here seems as good a place as any. If I upset people who are ttc then again I#m really sorry - not the intention.

I have a ds who is nearly 1 ( it took a while to conceive). Today I have done a preg test and it's positive. We have been careful and tbh we haven't been intimate regulary so this is a shock.

I'm not sure how Im feeling, we would like another baby but thought in another 18 mths or so, I want to enjoy my baby and feel a little bewildered by the whole thing!?!?

Still to tell DH!

Anyone!

Congratulations!

I have a friend who found out she was pregnant and was still breastfeeding. She isn't sure of her due date because she hadn't had a period.

I am TTC and you've not upset me, you're just lucky

Am sure that you'll be fine, it'll be a nice gap between children IMO. My brother and I are 18 months apart.

PeedOffWithNits · 14/11/2009 19:34

what contraception were you using?

just wondering whether condom broke/you forgot the pill or were on antibiotics so it wasn't working, or whatever

i think sometimes having had one pg you are somehow more fertile - DD1 took 2 years to conceive, DD2 first month trying, DS second month trying

Scorps · 14/11/2009 19:39

I got pg whilst bf too but I mc that baby, and was pg again a month later... I'm due Xmas day and my dc3 is 18 months.

You'll be fine! Congrats!!

Gosh, thanks for comments amazing how a little reassurance makes you feel and from people I don't even know - but then advice from those with experience counts for everything.

Using condoms - religiously. Thought the fact I'm still bf'ing and with condoms sure way to keep the swimmers at bay!

Am off to party tonight think may have to tell him indoors before hand though. Fingers crossed.

Spiders - congrats
Must have been a shock. Good luck telling DH but I'm sure all will be fine

busybutterfly · 15/11/2009 11:56

My sister and I are 1 year apart, my mum was told she couldn't get pregnant while BF (this was years ago).

Congratulations!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 15/11/2009 12:00

it'll be tough to start with but it'll be worth it when they are a little older and playing together. i have 15.5mths between DS & DD1... was BF and on the mini pill and somehow concieved.

WoTmania · 15/11/2009 12:17

You'll be fine.
Like RIven I didn't get any Periods between my 3 DC (although slightly bigger gaps) as I was BF and when I got pg with DD we were using contraception too .

It's fine. You'll manage.

tinkerbellesmuse · 15/11/2009 13:59

Congrats - you'll be fine!

DS1 was a huge shock: DD was 5mths, I was exclusively BF, hadn't had a period and had needed fertilty drugs to conceive first time round!

Spiders...I can totally relate!! I found out I was pregnant with dd when ds was only 6 months old...I was completely freaked out for most of my pregnancy. (of course, we weren't using contraception at all...so it was our fault entirely!!)
The first 6 months of dd's life were absolutely ridiculous...I was STUPID tired, and didn't know which end was up!! But,
here are the upsides: ds is now 3, dd is 2. We are breast/bottle free, baby food free, nappy free, cot free, and sleepless nights free. They are best friends, and now they will play together for ages without needing us so much to entertain them.

I hope you feel a bit less freaked out soon...for me, when I found out that my dd was a girl...that was my moment of enlightenment...it made it so real and so lovely, and now we can't imagine our lives without her!!

Lots of luck...deep breaths, stay calm!

Hi
Congratulations
I found out I was pg on Friday - was planning on waiting a year and was a big shock. But after a little mn reassurance I'm sure I'll be just fine and actually now the shock has worn off a bit feeling a bit excited.

I think it is true that you become more fertile after you've had one, took us 3 years to concieve dd, and this pg seems to have happened after one unprotected event I too am bfing, but dd is 2 so not frequently enough to stop me getting pg (clearly)

Anyway, it will all be great. Hope your dh takes the news well.

girlsyearapart · 15/11/2009 14:18

congrats- you'll be fine.

I agree with what usamama said (although mine were planned I never expected to fall pg first try both times..)
