to expect the person who dinted my car with a golf ball to pay to have it fixed?

Was driving past a gold club over the half term and a gold ball hit my car. A golf ball sized dint on the wheel arch, passenger side.

This man came over and said his son had done it and just stood there. I got his details and now I have phoned to tell them it will cost £75 plus VAT, I have heard nothing.
I gave him the name and number of the company
who quoted on the work.

I am trying to sell it which is why it needs doing ASAP.

If either of my children had done this, I would pay.

If he had any decency, he would pay for it, but legally, he has no liability to do so. Matters such as this have been to court on many occasions and the judgement is that the golfer doesn't know where the ball is going when s/he hits it. There is no intent to cause damage and it is an accident. I tend to avoid driving anywhere near golf clubs or cricket grounds for this reason. Sorry.

Go to the golf club and leave a message for him. Maybe if common decency won't make him pay, you can shame him into it...

Sadly, you dont really have a leg to stand on. It's an insurance issue, just the same as if someone had damaged your car and you never found out who did it...
