to keep these ebay items?

Am really not sure what to do now so please help!

I won a hat/scarf/gloves set on ebay and paid straight away.

When the set arrived there were small holes in the gloves (at the base of each thumb).

I sent them back and emailed the seller - she said she would refund me the item and my postage costs in full.

She emailed me saying she'd had the card from the postman and promptly refunded me the entire amount.

A few days later the postman knocks at my door and hands me back the parcel I'd sent to her, saying it hadn't been picked up from the sorting office.

So - now I have all my money back plus the original items.

WWYD?

IMoveTheStarsForNoOne · 13/11/2009 13:18

send it back!

busybutterfly · 13/11/2009 13:19

What - and email her again to pay postage costs?

OP posts:
diddl · 13/11/2009 13:19

How much will it cost to send back?

Or contact her & ask her?

Rantagonist · 13/11/2009 13:19

Let the seller know? If they've got holes in them they'd probably let you keep them anyway.

IMoveTheStarsForNoOne · 13/11/2009 13:19

oh, and YABU, obviously.

busybutterfly · 13/11/2009 13:20

PS And why the shocked face, I haven't done anything wrong!!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 13/11/2009 13:20

Email the seller and ask what she wants you to do.

busybutterfly · 13/11/2009 13:21

diddl postage was just over £2 and the items were £15.

Firawla · 13/11/2009 13:21

let them know, i dont think you should have to pay postage costs again though. as the royal mail hasn't delivered it the first time can they not just take it back again without re-paying? not sure how it works, but seems very unreasonable if they expect u to pay twice when they never took it from the sorting office. just explain 2 seller and try to work something out, they may say don't trouble yourself with it any more just keep it.

diddl · 13/11/2009 13:21

So she´s already refunded the total amout that you paid?

But you´ve already paid once to send them back?

PeedOffWithNits · 13/11/2009 13:23

" a few days later" ??

  • they keep unclaimed parcels for 3 weeks dont they - i once got an unclaimed christmas present returned mid feb - and I had to collect it from the sorting office, oh the irony, it could have been going to and fro forever!
busybutterfly · 13/11/2009 13:23

diddl that's exactly right. The parcel is sitting unopened in my porch.

busybutterfly · 13/11/2009 13:26

peedoff I sent it signed for as it was a return. The card was put through her door on the 28th Oct and it was marked not picked up on the 9th Nov. And the post office sent it back to me.

It's her mistake but I would still email her. If she asks you to re-post then make sure she pays for postage first.

Casserole · 13/11/2009 13:29

Just email her and ask her what she wants you to do.

diddl · 13/11/2009 13:31

So it´s only cost you ?2 so far (sorry, no pound sign)

It´s just that often when you return you pay t send it back, & don´t get original postage refunded, either.

But you sent it back as agreed, it´s not your fault she didn´t collect.

I guess I would offer to send it back again, but you shouldn´t really have to pay postage again.

TheUsefulSuspect · 13/11/2009 13:47

Keep them and deny all knowledge of them being returned or sell them on Ebay

Rantagonist · 13/11/2009 14:32

You got a good feedback score TUS??

mazzystartled · 13/11/2009 14:35

she's done the right thing by you, so you should let her decide whether she wants you to keep them, or if she'd like to send you the postage costs for you to return them. again.

Surfermum · 13/11/2009 14:40

I'd just email her and see what she wants to do.

busybutterfly · 13/11/2009 17:45

rantagonist what's TUS?

Thanks for all your replies.

I did email her and this is what I got back:

"I thought that might happen..When I collected the parcel that I though was yours..turns out it wasn't (assumed it was and did not open to check!)..then found an orange card lodged in my post box a few days ago..that must be the one! What a nightmare..Dont worry ab out sending back..gloves probably no use but scarf is okay isnt it? Have them..Merry Xmas!
Sorry for the aggro
Regards"
