To put CBeebies on all day tomorrow?

DS2 (6mo) has chicken pox so stuck at home with him and DS1 (2.8) til further notice.

Spent today climbing the walls trying to keep DS1 entertained -- DS2 too grumpy to be put down for long so couldn't do much hands-on with DS1.

After having killed 45 minutes pretending to be snails looking for lettuce in the front room, I caved in and put on CBeebies (never usually on in the daytime).

AIBU to put the TV on tomorrow morning and leave it switched on all day? and if I am BU, then has anyone got some brilliant ideas to stop me and DS1 from going completely stir crazy?

Should add have been up all the last two nights with DS2 so am completely knackered too!

You would be being unreasonable not to put it on. There is chicken pox in the house, all rules are out the window.

oops - I posted that too soon. You have reminded me of a fortnight staying at my nan's house watching day time TV, sleeping on her lap and eating only melted choc ices. It would have been lovely if I wasn't itching constantly with the dreaded pox! Seriously, chicken pox is the devil's work -terrible. You must be exhausted. Has DS1 already had it or could he fall ill any moment? Give everyone a break and put the tele on

Or at antenatal classes they once told us that a musical DVD repeated over and over again is better than tele as children learn the words and join in. Can you ask DP to bring you a disney film home?

Bloody hell, are you nuts? Of course it's OK to put Cbeebies on for ill DC - don't you want to watch rubbish telly when you're feeling ill?
(Mind you, we have Cbeebies on most of the time when DS is at home anyway and I can't be arsed to be precious about it. It hasn;t done him any harm).

Otherwise go for art projects.

Definately Cbeebies, will be great for them - proper duvet days they will feel pampered and special.

I am the same as you about TV during the day, but to be honest they're not going to be up to much more and it won't hurt at all, plus you might get some great ideas for other stuff to do when they are feeling better (that works for me too )

Hope your DC's get through it quickly, and that you manage to catch up on your rest too

Why would you think you ABU? It is perfectly acceptable and expected to want someone else to look after your kids distraction for them. I doubt my dd has suffered two previous days and then today's all day Tracy Beaker fest.

Shit, that wasn't meant as a criticism, the strike through didn't work. My dd is just now watching Danni's house and Iexpect her to sit glued to the box until it's time to go out to get my hair cut.

Thanks all. DS1 hasn't caught it yet so he's a bit restless being in all day, even with the TV on. (it would be easier if they both had it in some ways!) He's running around the garden now, will turn the telly on when he's worn himself out...
