couldn't manage to pick up the telephone to see if his son/grandson/any of us were OK after the week we've had or even see if we needed any help AT ALL in the last 8 days.

(LMC, childbirth on Friday etc etc)

but was too busy "giving us some space after what had happened" (and dandling his new grandbaby) to PICK UP A PHONE

The old gitt must be ailing if he can't even manage to lift a handset

Well, thank goodness my family CAN be bothered otherwise it would have been me, DH and the kids in the hospital on Weds and then all day Friday. OK it was a private room, but honestly - has the man NO empathy or consideration??????

perhaps he thinks he is showing empathy and consideration. Everyone does this kind of thing differently.
