to think that my dcs should have taken their shoes off before climbing on the worktops when we got back from the supermarket?

They are 3 and 4 and pretty lively so I had them in the trolley. Then when we got home they climbed on the worktop.
In their shoes.
I have to put my shopping and handbag on there fgs.

Did you not think to ask get them to take them off when you came in?

Clean the worktop, they are 3 & 4 and still young

Ho hum obviously my sense of humour is a bit off tonight, no takers.

Or the quality of mumsnet mickey taking has reduced a lot in the past year

oops xpost displayuntil. I was beginning to think you'd all had a sense of humour bypass

Oops Sorry! Lack of soh here tonight

sprouting · 09/11/2009 23:18

I used to have the same problem. Now I keep a rabbid dog on the worktop and he knocks them to the ground if they start to climb.

displayuntilbestbefore · 09/11/2009 23:19

no bypass here - you were just too quick off the draw!

nighty night - but please tell me you don't go outside in your nightie

hormonesnomore · 09/11/2009 23:23

Don't you know you should spray your children with Dettol before letting them climb on the worktop!

MillyR · 09/11/2009 23:26

My DS actually was climbing on the kitchen table tonight. I asked him to clean it and he did so by climbing up on it, and he is 11. I truly despair.

cheesesarnie · 09/11/2009 23:28

terrible children

midnightexpress · 09/11/2009 23:33

Never mind the hygiene issues wrt your shopping/handbag, haven't you thought about the health and safety aspects of allowing your children to clamber all over the worktops? They might slip in meat juices/dog poo or crash headfirst onto your (no doubt too slippery) floor.

juneybean · 09/11/2009 23:42

YABU if you didn't give them grapes.

We keep a pan of antiseptic at the door to clean our feet in. Then of course we all put on our hospital-grade booties and sterilized gowns. Doesn't everyone???

juneybean, I hope your grapes are ethically sourced? (and disinffected)

Servalan · 10/11/2009 01:00

I actually think this thread is a bit unkind. Sorry.
