I think it might be because everyone has allocated excessive and unwarranted importance to a tedious, staged and witless TV programme he is involved in.

I know it's so daft. Lucie was never going to win anyway.

There are folks in other countries would love to have this to worry about....it's not as if there's anything else for our press to report .

I don't know whether I find it distasteful or amusing that people are so villifying Simon Cowell for his actions in a Sunday night reality/pop whatsit when it was a day to commemorate true agony and loss.

And would that the nation were so passionate about voting in elections that make a difference.

so it's the show's fans that are at fault not him

I dont think he was bothered about letting the public speak to be honest.
He is a businessman. John and Edward command more column inches and are a bigger ratings pull than Lucie.

On the television (tis like a wireless with pictures) he 'let' a couple of not so talented boys stay in a competition rather than a quite talented girl because the country has gone crazy for the big haired boys in a 'love to hate them way' which of course generates lots of publicity for his little show..
