To want 2 lie-ins after a D&C / ERPC? I know I am but....

I had an ERPC under local anaesthetic on friday afternoon at 10 weeks. DH came in with me and was fantastic and then picked the kids up from nursery and cooked them dinner etc.

DH and I usually get a lie in each at weekends - as I'm a SAHM, I go for the sunday so my week starts on a monday as it were (anal I know). DH doesn't care what day he lies in. Anyway I asked if we could swap days this weekend .

I think I must have over done it yesterday (by carrying on as normal) because by the evening my abdomen was all tender and distended and it's uncomfortable to sit but fine to lie down - as long as my legs aren't pressing against my tummy.

I am largely absolutely fine and am just feeling a bit sorry for myself but I WISH DH had insisted that I get another lie in today .

oh. We have 2 under 3 and they have been up since 6am. Lie ins are until 9am.

He doesn't know, he can't tell because you were up and about yesterday. You need to tell him. You need to recover.

I don't think it's unreasonable to want a second lie in after an operation. You should have asked though, because if you had been acting as normal then he might have thought that you didn't want a fuss.

Saying that, I often expect DH to be a mind reader and would possibly be miffed in a similar situation

Agree stop feeling sorry for yourself and wishing he was a mindreader and go upstairs and tell him you're sore and need to rest.
I hated the tiny early morning kids stage. Teenagers that don't want to get up suit me better.

I think the whole point is that i don't feel bad enough to kick him out of bed knowing how much we both love a lie in. It would seem mean so I'm not going to do it. If I was fainting or vomiting I would but I'm not. I feel much more comfortable lying down but I'm not ill as it were. Hence we wishing he just insisted and wouldn't take no for an answer.

You really do need the rest - all of MN agrees. I'm sure that your DH would agree too if he realised that you had overdone it yesterday.

Don't think I would ever insist my husband stays in bed. he's an adult and can decide for himself when to get up. Do you really want to be patronised like that?

Maybe you could have a nap later, after lunch. You definitely should have more rest after your miscarriage. Apart from the physical effects you must be v upset too. It's find to be a little bit demanding right now!
