To think that its DH's fault that I crashed the car?

Well if he hadn't bought me such a sodding big one then Id have actually been able to park it without ripping the bumper off and putting a big hole in it. Oooops. Only had it 6 weeks
So, I need advice on how to tell him!

I'd suggest just being honest with him - though prehaps do not start with "I think this is your fault!"

Silly fool. When my DH decided he felt cramped in smaller cars, necessitating one rather larger than I was comfortable with, we had the foresight to order it with parking sensors. Brilliant invention, esp for shorties like me who really can't see out the back.

Perhaps ask him if its possible to get sensors fitted to your car ... I'm not sure but I think it requires a whole different bumper anyway...

Haha, the parking sensors were an extra 2k cuz its fitted with a camera that connects to the dvd player, and we decided it wasnt worth it. Im thinking along the lines of, 'ahhhh someone has hit my car while I was at work'
(And thanks for asking if we are ok, yep as I was reversing v.v slowly)
Final plan is going to see the dealer tomorrow who has a bit of a crush on me and sweet talking him into fixing it

Why the hell are you not choosing your own car?? What is the point of having a car you cannot, technically speaking, drive properly?

But sorry about the accident[sheepish emoticon]. Must be crap to bash a new car.

2K for sensors Thats a bit much. Ours - with no silly camera, just bleeps was about £400 which (when we looked back at what parking prangs - DH as well as me - had done to our insurance over the years) we decided was well worth it.

If I prang the car, I normally go with a contrite phone call to DH immediately, while he's at work. That way it's still fresh in my mind, it's over with, and I don't have to tell him later on when I've got over the shock and then he thinks I don't care about it. DH and I struggle with a basic incompatibility when it comes to cars - to me they are a metal box on wheels to get us places, to him they are so much more than that . . . !

I went from driving a fiesta to driving a Zafira.

Learn how big your car is and use the mirrors when you're parking, it aint difficult.

IME, women are pants drivers and shit parkers for the most part.

Custy, they're only shit because they keep being filled with the idea that women are shit drivers. They're never expected to be anything other than shit.

Its laughable and its time they stopped being idiotic airheads and tried actually learning to drive/park properly.

i think its about knowing your limitations.

i am a highly excellent driver, but my parkng could do with some work - i'm fine - but could do better.

knowing this - i wouldn't buy - or have someone else buy a chuffing big tank.

My DH chose a people carrier, and I find it a nightmare to park too. I'll only park it if it's a drive-in space, or if I can see it's reflection in shop windows as a guide to see how near I am to the car behind mine. Otherwise I drive on...

See Im a great driver, its a standing joke amongst my circle that I could reverse park a double decker. So thanks for all the paronising comments! I did choose my own car too, a lovely big American Dodge. But he paid for it, so my comment that he bought it me was spot on.
There was a broken metal pole sticking up just inside the hedge that I got caught on, no mirror in the world would have shown it to me.
But got a whole new bumper put on today for £300 so all good.

yabu - i drive a ka but can easily drive my mothers rav4 the larger one, and have driven lots a large cars without crashing them.

Oh ffs you lot lighten up, it was tounge in cheek cuz I was pissed off. Of course it wasnt his fault but I didnt wanna admit it was mine!
And Im perfectly capeable of driving thanks, in 5+ years of driving/owning around 15 cars Ive never so much as had a scrape.
Jeez, at least cruella and feiera got the hang of the thread
