it does
but so what
all these threads about "I dont wnat to see MIL at xmas" MAKES me wonder if some DILS are mumzillaS

OP posts:
Ronaldinhio · 30/10/2009 21:21

kind of know what you mean though...
some of my friends can't bear to spend a minute with their parents unless it explicitly benefits them in someway but are completely fecked off if their parents have other plans or dare I say it forget something important to them

I always wondered if suspended animation was their only option for pleasing dfs

AlaskaNebraska · 30/10/2009 21:21

..OR THE PARENTS WHO are told to go to kids birthdya parties

fakring nora - they have done their kids - do they really have to endure another lot?

OP posts:
moondog · 30/10/2009 21:21

Probably.
I never assume anyone remotely interested in my offspring's parties/outings/school plays.floral dances/circumsicion ceremonies though and have family who just let folk do what they want.

alwayslookingforanswers · 30/10/2009 21:21

no you said that you suspected that those that didn't want to see their parents are Christmas wanted them at the plays/birthdays etc.

I'm simply saying that's not the point.

I'm think I may actually make my excuses when the come down and go out on my own for a bit........

scottishmummy · 30/10/2009 21:21

nowt fishie about it,op,its just lame and trying too hard.

wow provocative -Not

moondog · 30/10/2009 21:22

My father stayed in the car eading the Spectator the one time I invited him to dreaded school fete.
I suspect he also had a wine box craftily stowed under seat.

Can't say i blame him.

alwayslookingforanswers · 30/10/2009 21:22

"i am WONDEING if that is the case."

yes and many of ou are TELLING you that's it not/

AlaskaNebraska · 30/10/2009 21:23

I htink there has to be some give and take surely?

yet when any thread is about a MIL everyone automaticlly says "No have xmas where you like"

whereas if this was about any other person or say a birthday party thing wiht a best mate NO ONE would say " you can have your party where you like dont invite your longest mate"

OP posts:
AlaskaNebraska · 30/10/2009 21:23

Moony was hea eating it?
i wouldnt blame him

I like to spend christmas at home - I work full time and see far too little of my kids, husband . dogs and house to spend a precious time of year running round or living other peoples traditions instead of helping the kids find theirs.

It would be lovely for the gp to see shows, birthdays etc but it's unrealistic - are gp really expected to attend all that stuff (besides bdays), dont they have their own lives?

your title is far too general and invites comments from all of those who chose/dont want to see parents at christmas so you can hardly complain about always reply, surely?

MillyR · 30/10/2009 21:25

Alaska, I am not asking for an academic study! I just don't get where you are coming from.

I have no experience of people who don't want to see MIL at xmas expecting her to turn up at kids' stuff. Presumably you have and are going to tell us about it, otherwise this is just a weird speculative thread.

It is a bit like AIBU to think that people who complain about noise also play the trombone?

I've no idea if YABU - I just want to hear the backstory to your thread topic.

AlaskaNebraska · 30/10/2009 21:26

ok then
IF YOU LIKE YOUR PARENTS
AND THEY DO STUFF FOR YOU
surely its nice to have htem for xmas

moondog · 30/10/2009 21:26

I spend a lot of time reading in the car due to my job (scarily similar to being itinerant lorry driver). I swig V8, eat a lot of blueberries and read Torygraph.

Also always read paper at every traffic light.

Heaven.

AitchTwoToTangOh · 30/10/2009 21:26

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 30/10/2009 21:27

scottishmummy · 30/10/2009 21:30
