Lunch breaks at work.. not being invited

Some of my colleagues have just all got up and gone to lunch and haven't invited me.

As far as I am aware we all get along and on days where I have a lunch break have been with them often. I think they haven't even noticed I am here today as no one has even said good morning to me.

They all sit on desks on the other side of the office to me. Does that mean I don't exist? Or maybe they just don't like me?

Do you think it is rude that they haven't invited me or should I not expect this just because they are my colleagues?

No, but that's because there is a funny "atmosphere" in here (everyone who joins the team from new mentions it)

I used to, even made a joke about never getting a response in one of our team meetings. I gave up because I would say good morning to be met with a wall of silence.

Oddly though if you were to bump in to them later in the day, or have a team meeting they are all perfectly friendly.

You need to start saying good morning to them. And be persistate. If you get no response then I would have a word with a manager as it could be seem as a form of bullying and needs to be nipped in the bud.

Do you have to cover for them when they go to lunch?

Use the opportunity of them being out to write '009' in chalk on all of their chairs, so when they get up it will say 'poo' on their bum.

But that's just my way of dealing with it.

Sounds a bit like my company, I now bring in my own lunch sit at my desk and read mumsnet. Suits me perfectly and don't have to pretend to like the people I am lunching with. if it's any consolation I don't get asked either, but wouldn't want to anyway.
