Respectfully requesting that it does not satirise Mumsnet as

yummie.mummies.com

I am sir, (you ugly micrococked smug little tosser) your obedient servant

etc...

Hislop described it as a 'website for young mums' on HIGNFY>

Patronising little twat that he is.

YABU

IH does far too much good stuff to be ripped into for taking the piss (& he was getting at GB more than MN)

IMHO

yabvu

what exactly do youthink mumsnet is? yummy.mummy.com is being kind considering mumsnet consists of women talking about their own poo and hair cuts.

Actually, that's a fair point. I'm not in the slightest bit yummy. I'm knackered, greying round the edges, and I have bad poo. And I need a haircut.

yummy mummy will do for me...

Can't we just get our revenge invite IH on for a mature discussion?

If you're against being called yummy mummies you should sign off as Miss T. Akenidentity.

The thing is though, anyone watching HIGNFY was presumably doing so because they find Ian Hislop's sneering amusing. It seems a little wet to get so upset about it when it is suddenly directed at us. Presumably everyone picked on by programmes like this feels rather aggrieved, at least we were got at collectively.

GayTony are you in fact IH?

I ask purely for information.

And an intention to alert Tony Blair to your nickname.

if you read private eye i can only assume you are (ever so slightly) smug and therefore are even more unreasonable.

I think Hislop might have accidentally looked at netmums instead. Or maybe the Boden website? The poor love has no idea.

Report
InMyLittleHead · 28/10/2009 21:05

Hislop was only saying it to get at Brown, making out that he's trying to be down with the real people when he is, in fact, not a real person.

Surprised me actually - I would think his wife is a prime candidate for being a MNer!

  • better to be talked about than not talked about at all, and all that. At last some of my friends have bothered to look at MN properly now.

Poor Ian Hislop! He's funny!

IMHO he's in the Clarkson pigeonhole of BBC personalities, paid to make wisecracks and be controversial on a TV programme which is not designed to be taken seriously. HIGNFY wouldn't be much fun if the participants had a serious, "Question Time" discussion about politics, current affairs or website forums.

That MN was mentioned at all gave it publicity, which can't be altogether a bad thing.
