I have mastitis, dd is 3 weeks old, I have been on antibiotics for 5 days now and today feel worse again.
Th kids are going bonkers and dh has decided he has The Cold. He has a runny nose and is a bit tirred, I have temperatureflu symptoms and feel very ill, plus dd is cluster feeding and is quite,bless her, demanding.
Dh sayshe is more ill than me. I am spitting with rage.
AIBU to expect him to do biggestchunk of housework/childcare, or I will not beable to kick the mastitis.

YANBU! If DH is around he should be doing everything else anyway and letting you get on with feeding your newborn. And that includes helping to look after you when you have a very painful actual illness.

Lazy bastard. Go to bed. Take loads of drinks, snacks, Mags etc and your newborn. Now put a chair under the door handle to keep the buger out and leave him to it. Your other children will prove more than capable of annoying him into providing for them when they need him to.

Failing that, do you have nearby froends or family that could come over and give you a break because one way or another, you def shouldn't be running around after HIM!

Also, you've prob already been told this but warm washcloths against the skin will help with the mastitis!

YANBU. I always tell DH that I'm going to call the waaaambulance, that usually shuts him up

YANBU. I used to get outrageously angry (and very unsympathetic) when DH did this. It got to the stage when I would run a mental sweepstake as to how long after me saying I was feeling rough it would take before he would say "you know, I think I'm coming down with something too" and he'd nip off upstairs for a lie down before I could.

He's got better now, possibly since I took to commenting on how he was clearly a more sickly, unhealthy type than I am, as he suffers so much more than I do with the same bug. Think that may have offended his manly pride, so now he's toughened up and has even abandoned the "ill voice" that used to drive me insane.

Men and man flu, laughable, yet they claim they would be able to handle having a baby and we are wimps, and it doesnt REALLY hurt!!!

You should be in bed being looked after. I've twice had Mastitus that and wiped me out and the best thing I did was retire to bed
