Personally I think it's irritating and seems to assume people make these decisions "just to be smug"

Irritating. It's saying "Actually we are much better than these supposedly perfect parents who (we imagine) feel smugly superior to us, so we feel perfectly justified in feeling smugly superior to them".

But they don't seem to spot the irony...

Miggsie · 26/10/2009 12:54

anyone invented a smug seeking missile yet?

Stigaloid · 26/10/2009 13:00

am highly confused by this thread. Help?

Stigaloid · 26/10/2009 13:00

ah - thread read back to front - am a little less confused now!

TombliBOOOOOObs · 26/10/2009 13:01

@ AMuminScotland, that could be applied to most parents in most situations

BertieBotts · 26/10/2009 13:01

Stigaloid the comments refer to the website linked in the first post.

AMIS that's what it is - that's what annoyed me about it you put it much better than I could.

I think it's funny

blushes · 26/10/2009 13:40

The problem is that it's not particularly funny or well-written. It could have been a very entertaining satirical (or just plain snarky) site, but sounds a bit humphy and overblown. I got bored a few sentences in.

OrmIrian · 26/10/2009 13:43

Are you talking about that particular piece about fairness? If so it's not funny or offensive , just a bit meh.

Hassled · 26/10/2009 13:45

The whole Lion King analogy was stretched beyond reason. Not especially funny, but not offensive either.

TspookyChasm · 26/10/2009 13:58

It's a bit clunky.

Is it it suggesting some people present themselves in 'stroke my ego' light all the time? To re-confirm to all around that what they do and how they do it are just that leeetle bit better than the rest of us.

I guess I know a couple of those.
