to want John and Edward to win the x-factor?

After Alexandra Burke's mimed performance on the x-factor last night, and the sheer stupidity of John and Edward being in the finals, I think the whole thing is a farse that is not designed to find new talent but is designed to find acts that fit a certain standard, to which we as the public must conform.

John and edward are ghastly individuals. But they are there purely for the amusement factor and to cause tention between the judges on the show.

I think that it's time the public took a stand and show the producers that if they make certain decisions, it could have consequences.

Thus, while I can't stand John and Edward, I think that for them to win would be highly, highly amusing, and justice in a way.

Robbie looked out of his mind.

NyeEve · 12/10/2009 10:35

no change there hten

ds2 said " why is he such a big deal"
i had no idea

the song is CRAP

alex far better

daisydora · 12/10/2009 10:35

Robbie was a bit pants - he never finished a line just kept asking the audience if they were okay etc etc.

Agree notwaving he had crazy eyes at the end when Dermot was talking to him.

notwavingjustironing · 12/10/2009 10:37

Alex rocked though.

slyandgobbo · 12/10/2009 10:37

Even mad and drugged up or whatever it was, Robbie enormously more charismatic than Alexandra. Reminds me a bit of Jack Nicholson these days

bigchris · 12/10/2009 10:37

yes i thought he looked on something or just not with it

notwavingjustironing · 12/10/2009 10:37

Do you think the dress she was wearing would be a bit much for me to wear in the office?

wannaBe · 12/10/2009 10:39

Aren't they all? On something that is.

I like him but wasnt fussed on the song.

Nah, maybe some tights though for those chilly winter mornings

HowlingAtTheMoon · 12/10/2009 10:41

I said to be DH about Robbie looking completely spaced when he was talking to Dermot.

princessmel · 12/10/2009 10:42

dh said he looked like he was on something. All the hugging and waving was odd too.

Song was crap.

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/10/2009 10:42

Oh I loathe John and Edward with a vengeance, but I love Wannabee's idea. Can you imagine?

I am not loving X Factor this year at all, for me it has lost all credibility (not that it had much). But this year I can see it for the bullshit it really is.

It's a shame as there are a couple of contestants I really like (Stacey, Rachel, that young welsh boy) but the whole concept is tired and overblown now.

Will still be watching it avidly, though, it's obviously still got some appeal

princessmel · 12/10/2009 10:45

Not keen on Stacey's fringe btw and I am a fringe fan.

Looked better last night when it was wavey and fringe pushed out of the way.

BobbingForPeachys · 12/10/2009 10:45

Well it is a farce, nonetheless I do not want the twins on the show for the next umpteen weeks, there are a few decent acts (like Stacey, Miss Frank and another girl whose name escapse me and Dh likes Jamie ) and i'd much rather see themup there getting the plaudits

Haven't yet seen last weekends though so if any of those made an arse of themselves just delete from the list LOL

Plus if the reported comment about them saying 'And Louis even talks to people in wheelcahirs and everything' (rough memory rather than exact quote) is true then I think they are triple the arses i thought they were anyway, but tahts an if.

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/10/2009 10:45

I am glad that the scrubbers have been kicked out. They were vile.

I like Robbie's new song. But he did look a bit dazed and confused. He wouldn't be on something, would he

HowlingAtTheMoon · 12/10/2009 10:47

And what was all that shoulder bumping with Dermot? How old are they? 10? and from the 'hood'????

BobbingForPeachys · 12/10/2009 10:49

That clip of alexandra- looks like she is miming and her feedback is a bit out of synch? (DH will no odubt explain to me in great detail later when we watchn it, together with a reminder every ten seconds that the bloke who does the lihghting is a guest lecturer on his degree..... earplugs anyone? )

Don't like A's new song anyway. Load of drivel IMO.

BornToFolk · 12/10/2009 10:54

Robbie sounded like he was on the verge on tears when talking to Dermot. Very odd and starey.

Alexandra really looked like she was miming.

Both very underwhelming performances IMHO.

But in response to the OP, YABU. They are highly irritating and I really don't want to watch them every week.

wannaBe · 12/10/2009 10:57

I think stacy is vulnerable. I think if she makes it she will be hugely open to exploitation and will fall apart within a year. Which is very sad because she clearly can sing.

I don't think that J&A can sing btw and I really don't like them and don't think they should actually be there. However I do wonder whether they are also being exploited to a digree - the show lets us see what they want us to see, and I think it's highly likely they are deliberately being portrayed as annoying little twats when perhaps they're just young, and perhaps immature and it would now not be in show's interests to show us their endearing qualities. I remember that with Rhydien a couple of years ago he was portrayed initially as being arogant and full of himself and just not very nice when actually that wasn't the case and he was hugely talented as well.

I would just love to see the programme backfire on the producers and for someone who was put through for their entertainment value to win, just to prove a point.

and fwiw I don't think that winning is everything. Jls have been much more successful than Alexandra, their album has been out for months whereas she has only just been able to release hers. etc. I think that not winning actually gives them far more freedom because if you win you are tied to the record label for a time and have a schedule etc...

Its true about editing Wannabe, but tbh if theya re acting I think SyCo would have mroe to gain taking them on as actors, necause there are a few BAFTA winning performances in there......
