when you hear 40 + year old women saying " oh it was hilarious on face book"

you think

sticktoyourgins · 05/10/2009 09:25

Is it OK for her to say this when she is 39?

TrinityRhino · 05/10/2009 09:26

get out of the wrong side of the bed today??

HowlingAtTheMoon · 05/10/2009 09:31

I secretly agree but probably YABU and so am I.

GetOrfMoiLand · 05/10/2009 09:35

Never been on facebook. Refuse to. Think it's something for teenagers.

See so many threads on here 'oh I saw that he had written messages on her wall' or whatever, I always think oh fgs.

Same as twitter. Who gives a flying fuck really.

PVish · 05/10/2009 09:36

i think teenagers
I agree with ALL GOML types

It's like people who row via text. Is something 15 year olds do.

SoupDragon · 05/10/2009 09:37

Agree. I am a Facebook refusenik.

OTOH, it it really that much different to a 40 year old woman saying "It was hilarious on Mumsnet..." ?

claw3 · 05/10/2009 09:38

Agree totally everyone knows when you are 40+ you use MN.

PVish · 05/10/2009 09:39

Posting on AIBU is much more grown up that going on facebook.

FourArms · 05/10/2009 09:39

I like Facebook.. it's an ideal way to keep in touch on a daily basis with distant friends and relatives.

I've got a few friends I can talk about MN with... anyone else just looks at me blankly!

PVish · 05/10/2009 09:39

GOML
you would be hwo often i hear that in really serious sitations in my other line of work

OP posts:
TheFoosa · 05/10/2009 09:40

I don't tell anyone I am on MN

hf128219 · 05/10/2009 09:40

Exactly SD! What is so different about MN?

PVish · 05/10/2009 09:41

er

its not designed for pubescent wkd drinkers

OP posts:
GetOrfMoiLand · 05/10/2009 09:42

I say to dd "are you on that stupid facebook again sending inane messages to friends when you have just seen them at school 2 hours ago pfft what a waste of time"

DD says to me "are you on MN again talking to strangers about how to boil ham and how much you all fancy Kevin McCloud?"

Fair point. Usually shuts me up (for a short while).

claw3 · 05/10/2009 09:44

You get a better class of wkd drinkers on MN.

Dont you just hate it when people use FB to stay in touch with family and friends. I have a phone/address book for that.

GetOrfMoiLand · 05/10/2009 09:45

Also lots of dd's teachers on FB, they know when the teachers are going out on a Saturday night.

Are the teachers mad?. I mean, why add the kids you teach to facebook. Nuts.

SoupDragon · 05/10/2009 09:45

Today's WKD drinkers are the Sauvingnon Blanc drinkers of tomorrow.

GibbonInARibbon · 05/10/2009 09:46

I use facebook (though not the apps) I think it is a fab way to stay in touch with friends and I have been lucky enough to meet a very old and dear friend after many years of no contact thanks to Facebook.

HTH

TheFoosa · 05/10/2009 09:46

the telephone, how very old-school

overmydeadbody · 05/10/2009 09:48

40+ women really should know better shouldn't they?

Everyone should have better sense than to drink WKD drinks though, surely no self-respecting MNer would admit to such blatant common lack of taste?

GibbonInARibbon · 05/10/2009 09:48

Yes, yes the old 'I can write/e mail/phone if I want to be in touch with someone'

Yes you can. Others can use Facebook...is it that big a deal?

frazzled74 · 05/10/2009 09:48

I am on facebook and it is a good way of getting in touch with old colleagues/school friends and family. I dont do all the farmville and mafia wars stuff, and Idont go on it daily but certainly dont think that its a twatty thing to do.

overmydeadbody · 05/10/2009 09:49

I disagree SoupDragon. WKD drinkers of today are the cheap Hardy's and Bucks Fizz drinkers of tomorrow.
