To hate violent expressions being used in thread titles?

I'm not bothered by swearing in posts, I'm not bothered by swearing in poster's names, but I hate thread titles that talk about wanting to slap, punch other people.

YANBU, I hate this too.

hobbgoblin · 04/10/2009 17:59

Yep. I was pro the swearing but aforementioned is really rather grim. To be physically violent is beneath most decent people I think.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 04/10/2009 17:59

There seem to be a lot of them today. Quite nasty, imo.

belgo · 04/10/2009 18:01

Yes it is nasty the way people talk about other people, I've seen at least four thread titles today.

It just makes violence seen more normal.

I agree with you

jasper · 04/10/2009 18:02

Especially when the OP is queried about it and replies along the lines of

"for goodness sake I am only venting . OBVIOUSLY I would not slap anyone. if you can't vent on mumsnet where can you?"

belgo · 04/10/2009 18:04

oh yes that's the standard answer Jasper.

I don't even read the threads anymore, but it's horrible thinking that people get so violently angry over sometimes quite minor things.

I thought I was being thin skinned but am glad others feel the same

MaMight · 04/10/2009 18:06

YANBU!!! I hate this.

(It makes me want to grind the OP to a fine powder and sneeze them all over the forum ).

belgo · 04/10/2009 18:08

Mamight at least that is an imaginative way of dealing with it!

I saw a foul Daily Mail headline the other day - something about skin and salt - it just makes me feel sick.

Oooo belgo I read that somewhere too.

claw3 · 04/10/2009 19:04

Im sure these people do not actually go around slapping and punching people in RL. Does not bother me

HKT · 04/10/2009 19:09

FWIW, I started one of those threads, and obviously I wouldn't string the woman up by the toenails, but the pain and trauma she inflicted on her friend is a very emotive thing, and makes me think very, very violent things towards her - which is odd, because I am the least violent person I know
Sorry if it's caused any offence, none was intended
