because I have a bit of facial hair that requires regular maintenance to keep it under control, and I fear that when I'm 70 or so and my eyesight's going I might not notice anymore.

I don't want to be known as the old bearded lady...

(It's not actually that bad - bushy eyebrows and a bit of a 'tache. No Bic required...)

I look at my Mum and she's great for 60 however she does do scare-mongering Daily Mail type things with newspaper clippings and email warnings and sometimes takes ages to get to the point of a story and thinks it's too loud in cafes sometimes to even speak, so I feel fearsome over those sort of things not beards and wrinkles!

I have one moustache hair that actually grows really long and I have to pluck it, in fact am going to check progress right now!

I rely on DH to tell me if it gets bad, but I might invest in one of those really unflattering magnifying mirrors. I think it might scare me a bit though

I have a covenant with female reli that when I get like that she will debuff me and vice versa and if it happens before and I end up in a coma or something then DH will see to it that I am not lying there like Cousin IT.

Oooo nooooo.....don't get one of those mirrors. They're horrific and should come with a health warning! I accidently looked in one once when I was looking around a bathroom showroom. I had to go home for a sit down and a little sob.

Get it lasered (before it goes grey). I imagine that you won't care when you're old, you won't be able to see it and everyone will be too polite to mention it in case you disinherit them.

At 43 I have hairs on my chin in exactly the same spot my mother does....They came overnight (overnight, I tell you) between giving birth and the day after...
Haven't quite started putting 2 inches of gravy into tupperware yet, "just in case it comes in handy" but I do like my comfy shoes.
Anyway, I shall have so many soup dribbles down my chin, no-one will notice the fuzz.

How odd - I was thinking this only this morning?!?! Yes I too am worried. I remember my gran having a proper wispy beard when she was in a nursing home and the hairdresser coming in to get rid of it. One of my lasting memories of her

Ooh, lasering! Great idea. Anyone had it done? Does it hurt? Is it pricey?

I recently spotted a hair growing out of my neck which was at LEAST an inch long?! How the hell did it get that long without me noticing?! Attacked it with the tweezers and it never came back - bizarre.

I do have a few old lady type hairs thickening on my chin though, that get whipped out as soon as they're long enough to grab hold of. I'm sure this will get worse as the years roll by and my future grandchildren will most likely not want to kiss me...

I Haven't had lasering, but I did get electrolysis done on a few strays at the corners of my mouth. Almost 20 years ago, still no return (got some new ones on the chin though that now need doing). It stung a little, but wasn't painful just uncomfortable, and only for a second or two. You have to get each hair done a few times before it gives up and dies.

Worth every penny.

God I worry about that! I remember my Mum imaacing my great aunts chin when we went to visit her.

I have the moustache & beard thing too & neck hair - I peer in a x10 magnifying mirror frequently so I can be sure I've got them all. I console myself with the fact that when I'm really old 1) they'll be white hairs & therefore not so noticeable or 2) I'll be doolally & not care about them or 3) I'll be dead.

Anyway, they're only hairs aren't they - and it's not like we can control them - we can't help where they grow, can we? I'd love to have enough money to have 'em lasered - anyone tried a Rio machine?

I'm 42 & have started getting chin-whiskers (sob). DH plucks them out for me with tweezers, I think he enjoys the 'tidying up' aspect of it. And inflicting pain

They're really tough and they hurt - wax won't get them out. I'm glad I'm not alone though. I'm more worried that I will develop a big mole on my chin in the same place as my mum did. I keep thinking I can feel a lump coming there now.

And I just know I'm going to end up like my mum personality-wise...saying inappropriate things about people too loudly, etc, rudely interrupting people to say what she wants to say (she never used to do this). Because my gran was like this, and now her daughter (my mum) is exactly the same. So my sis and I know we've probably got it coming.

Yep, me too. I have an agreement with DH that he gets rid of my moustache and beard when I'm incapable. I have always had a 'tache (dark-haired), but the chin hairs started after DS2.

I am considering laser removal as well ...

Well in 40 years I'll be long gone.
