to hate the crunchy nut advert?

maybe being a bit silly, but I find the new crunchy nut cornflakes advert upsetting. The one where the baby's in the trolley and the trolley rolls down the hill. It makes me feel anxious etc. Is it supposed to be funny?

i hate it, i think its affected me, our asda has the cafe upstairs i take dd and ds up everyweek for a drink and sandwich while we wait for our lift home, last week i actually felt sick walking past the top of the stairs and where id usually leave them in the trolley i got the furthest table from stairs and took them out, im now paranoid, and anyway, who likes cereal that much?

Don't watch Battleship Potemkin (or the Untouchables, which borrowed the baby in the pram falling downstairs scene).

It's awful isn't it? I got lost once on a long walk with a huge travel system and a v small DS, and when I worked out where I was the quickest way back was up a long flight of outdoor steps. All the way up I had the Potemkin scene in my head...

Oh, and in Potemkin the baby doesn't get rescued [shudder]

Haven't seen it, sounds horrible though.
Also hate the one where shop worker snatches cereal from a customer. Wouldn't happen in Waitrose.

I saw it today and thought of this thread.

It's horrible. I already have a stair phobia and watching it made me feel very anxious!

I've always thought they were the funniest ads on TV - a matter of sense of humour me thinks!

I hate the Vanish one where the girls are playing dressup and get lipstick on the mum's blouse and the mum smiles gently/kindly and laughs and says it will all come off with Vanish etc. I feel dreadful knowing I would howl and rant and am therefore a worse mother than little Miss Vanish. Will never buy Vanish again. Only buy products that make me feel good about myself. Isn't that the point of products?

I thought of this thread when I saw the crunchy nut one... hadn't considered the Vanish one though.....

xMad - who likes to think of self as type of mother who would smile and be relaxed re make up stains and ability of vanish to magic stains away, but in reality is type of mother who would go 'ah bugger, it's buggered, let's go blow the child benefit on a new one'.....

I was going to start a thread about that. I find it horrible too.

Oh I'm glad it's not just me. I actually complained about it. I just find it quite upsetting and Im not oversensitive.

That's not a baby in The Untouchables Crackwhore it's about six. It could have got out and rescued itself.

I have complained to the Advertising Standards Authority re the Crunchy Nut 'Trolley' advert, as the mother of a three month old it makes me feel sick and i think it's disgraceful that a child watching it could be led to believe that cornflakes are more important than their welfare. Especially when the child is being shaken by the steps, I hope they managed to create the advert without having to make a baby's head shake but I doubt it.
