On the group for my antenatal classes, a comment on the wall - by James XXX -
'you to us saved us from a cesarean. thanks guys.'

Us? Us?

Is that as sickable as people who say 'we're pregnant'?

Well, I think you could read it both ways. Possibly James was worried about his partner having a cesarean, maybe she was worried about it and he is sharing in the general relief, maybe he was worried about the recovery period and having to do a lot more work around the house after! I don't think it's particularly sick-making per se but kind of depends on the context and the person saying it.

TrillianAstra · 23/09/2009 23:16

Did it say 'you to' as well?

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 24/09/2009 08:06

oh sorry 'you to us' is the name of the class.

GibbonInARibbon · 24/09/2009 08:15

YABU

Why people care enough about such things to post a thread on it is beyond me...

GibbonInARibbon · 24/09/2009 08:16

and annoyed? Really?

mummygirl · 24/09/2009 08:17

YABU.
And what's wrong with "we're pregnant"? In a loving relationship partners share the pregnancy.

PestoLovelyMonster · 24/09/2009 08:21

I think it's nice YABU

scottishmummy · 24/09/2009 08:21

we dont carry & deliver baby - he isnt pg

it a gushy cringey term
we are parents -yes
we are pg definitley not

girlsyearapart · 24/09/2009 08:26

don't really get the op but hate the 'we're pregnant' thing.
Really? We are giving up drink for 9 months?
We are going to grow to the size of a baby elephant? We are going to be unable to tie our own shoelaces? We are going tp push a 9lb baby out?
I think not..

GibbonInARibbon · 24/09/2009 08:32

But to get annoyed over the use of the word 'we'? Really?

Maybe it's just me but I tend to save annoyance for something that matters in life.

For the record, it's not a term I would use, would I get annoyed about it? No.

scottishmummy · 24/09/2009 08:34

op i presume james means collective we-the class. think it is a nice post

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 24/09/2009 08:38

Oh I het annoyed about a lot of things. I have plenty to go around. But ok, IABU!

Nice to see a father being involved and having manners.

DoNotPressTheRedButton · 24/09/2009 09:33

exactly fabaersgirl

we're expecting (becuase he is if not actually pg) perhaps better than we're PG but involved happy Dad = good imo, who caresabout the details?

(Ok, i'd have berated DH about the accuracies LOL- buy ykwim )

AnotherBloodySugaBabe · 24/09/2009 09:35

Oh God, 'We're pregnant' is horrific. So Yankified. I lose a tiny bit of affection for anyone I hear utter these words.

Feierabend · 24/09/2009 09:43

Ahem. A CS can be a difficult experience for the father as well. YABU.

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 24/09/2009 09:49

My DH would agree with you Feierabend. He thought he was going to lose us both when I had my emergency section.

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 24/09/2009 09:51

I always say 'we're pregnant'. It's DH's baby, too and he's with me every step of the way. I wonder if people find me sickening too.

scottishmummy · 24/09/2009 10:01

we dont get
piles
cramps
odema
stretch marks
nausea

she does ,he doesnt

undoubtably pg for the dad is a huge emotional rollercoaster,i dont seek to diminish that.nor the support and love a good partner gives BUT

we are pg just isnt accurate
we are expecting a baby is

Anyone who takes anything said on the internet personally is unreasonable.

Don't mind the 'we' in this case, but I do find 'we're pregnant' very vomitty.
