Not to Want BIL as a Facebook Friend

Namechanger.

BIL has no friends. Him and SIL have never really had any friends ever. They are more reclusive than anything else.

He spends loads of time on the computer, and recently sent a friend request.

Aside from not really liking him, having nothing in common with him, and the fact that he regularly forwards right wing 'jokes' to me, my main friends on Facebook are liberal females.

Don't really want to cause offence, but at the same time dont want him as a FB 'buddy' as he isn't my friend in RL.

You can click ignore and he won't get told.

If he ever asks why you didn't accept, just say you don't really use facebook, you set up the account ages ago blah blah.

Agree with diamond, of course this will only work if your setting don't allow anyone to view!

More than reasonable not to add him as a friend... just click ignore.

Ugh -- Good advice, but DP, his brother recently said that I was so excited to have found so many friends on Facebook

My settings are on 'friends only'

hmmm...I have had this kind of thing happen and just clicked ignore and hoped for the best. you can always claim ignorance if he ever brings it up, but he isn't likely to surely. or just say that you really liked it at first then stopped really using it or something like that. I had this dilemma when my dad sent a friend request. since he is now on I have had to moderate some of my status updates etc...so don't do it if you are not comfortable with it.

addictedtomn · 20/09/2009 10:23

i would click 'accept', so he gets told you've accepted then click on 'remove as friend' that way he gets told you've accepted and may never even realise that your not friends anymore!

but then i know i'm a bitch and do this all the time to people i dont like.

addicted evil and wicked plan! that's brilliant!
