Even found myself looking at these today ! Part of me wanted to buy them but I made myself walk away, now I just feel irritated that they are there. Have I gone loopy ?

Right next to all the Halloween stuff , doesn't annoy me but sends me into a panic!!

Avoid the shops is my answer

Mybox · 18/09/2009 20:45

I'm trying to get ready for xmas now (as I have a baby due just before) & have seen nothing christmassy at all!

Hormonesnomore · 18/09/2009 20:47

Take a deep breath, avert your eyes & walk right past them! I am going to ignore Christmassy type things until the middle of November - then start panicking.

Ninks · 18/09/2009 20:47

YANBU.

And where are the nice ones? With a tiny bit of glitter and nativity scenes? Simpsons and Spongbob ones make me want to scream.

5inthebed · 18/09/2009 20:48

YANBU at all.

I went into one shop today, and they had christmas trees and decorations out . Far too early!

Katisha · 18/09/2009 20:49

I hate Christmas arriving in the shops in September.

Squishabelle · 18/09/2009 20:51

No you have not gone loopy. The whole sordid commercialisation of it all annoys the hell out of me now. In fact we have made a decision to make each others birthdays our main celebrations of the year. Christmas will be very low key.

Firawla · 18/09/2009 20:51

YABU u dont have to buy it now if you dont want, its there for those who do

pigletmania · 18/09/2009 20:51

YANBU so annoying and commercial, shops round our area were putting out chiristmas stuff at the end of August

MissMoopy · 18/09/2009 21:17

It drives me bloody crazy too. I know someone who works in John Lewis and their Xmas shop starts in a week! Agh! I love Xmas, but its hard not to get sick of the overt and lengthy commercialisation!

Katisha · 18/09/2009 21:26

the garden centres start playing Slade around now too...

Tinfoil · 18/09/2009 22:25

YANBU. Christmas officially starts on 24 December and lasts for 12 days. Obviously you need some preparation time but this is much too early IMHO. It's sad that the commercial side of it begins in late summer, to the point that people start getting sick of it by October

Some of the online charity shops sell more traditional advent calendars and candles, such as these on the Charitycards website or these on the Traidcraft site.
