To think people should take a bit more care then to let a pram roll away

I have just grabbed a run away pram and I feel quite

Finished work and now have hour before picking up DS2 from after school football, so headed to costa got out my lap top and caught up with MN.
2 women 3 small children and a pram come i8n and while deciding where to sit the pram with a small child in rolls away and they do not notice, it rolls down the slop by the door and is almost on the fecking pavement by the time I am out of my chair and grabbing it, and they still do not notice, then she turns to me as I drag the pram back in and says "oh sorry" ????

I doubt she expected it to roll off in a shop. Accidents happen, no-one got hurt. Think you are being a bit unreasonable.

Well done but you are being a little harsh. I let ds roll off in a car park as I tried to strap dd into her seat. I wondered what the teenager in the car next door was doing leaping out of her car - she was saving ds . When somethings on a level surface you don't expect it to roll off.

Have no view on runaway prams, but PLEASE tell me you meant to put 'than' in your title, rather than the completely annoying and grammatically incorrect 'then'.

YANBU. Sure we all have momentary lapses but the woman in Costa doesn't sound sufficiently contrite, imo. Although quite how I know this without having been there I don't really know.
I always find it a bit odd that so few people put the brakes on their prams on the bus. But we're not going to discuss prams on buses again, are we?

She probably didn't even think that it would roll away.
This happened to me twice in one day and the same man saved my buggy each time
I had a nipper 360 double. I had pumped up the tyres just before I left the house. They had been a little soft before that so when You let go it stayed where it was.
I wasn't used to this so I let go while putting my keys in my bag - off rolls the buggy. Man grabs it and I thank him while feeling like a twat.
Coming back from the shop , I stopped to take my keys from my bag and the buggy rolled away right into the path of the same man
I was visiting my parents at the time and the road they live looks flat so you would not expect it to roll.

Oh god, this reminds me of something that happened to me not long ago. Was crossing a busy road with ds2 in pushchair being pushed by teenage niece. The wind suddenly blew her dress up and she went to grab it, and let go of the pushchair, which was on an incline, and it went rolling into the road, just as the lights went green and the traffic came towards us.

I was looking the other way, and turned back to see the pushchair in the road..grabbed it and yanked it back..didn't know how to react next. Didn't want to upset my niece who was mortified, so I ended up laughing slightly hysterically.I'm sure anyone watching must have been thinking WTF, irresponsible cow, but really I was just so shell-shocked by what might have happened I didn't know what to do. Still makes me feel slightly weak kneed thinking about it, and made a vow never to judge anyone again on a momentary lapse. Am trying my best to stick to that one..

YANBU - If it wasn't in the shop it could have been on the pavement and then it would have easily rolled into the road.

What kind of shop has an incline in it? If I went into a shop I would not automaticaly put the brake on.

She was too busy looking for a seat with her friend to watch the pram,
I don't think I am on my high horse, I think she needed to be more careful.

She and her friend have 4 small children to look after between them. FGS give the woman a break! It's happened to me more than once because with small children you are EXHAUSTED.

When my DD's pram nearly rolled in front of a car, and was only saved by a passer-by, I compounded the crap mother look by giggling hysterically as I retrieved the pram. We all make mistakes.

YANBU Prams have breaks for a reason - not hard to put them on... surely any child is worth that effort and consideration.

or you could cut cut her some slack and realise that everyone makes mistakes. i was like a zombie today after hardly any sleep, god knows what i did or didnt do as a result.

Oh I could be that mother AIBU to assume that flippin shop floors shouldn't have slopes ? I was so sleep deprived and then giggled like a maniac when I realised what was happening. Shall i report myself?

Yes yes I see I am in the wrong,
Poor woman as you all seem to have a much better take on it then someone who was there I shall leave you too it.
If the child had of rolled in to the road and been hit by a car it would have been most inconvenient as it would have made a traffic jam, at least she was not giving the child a fruit shoot or haribo.

If 2 people are too exhausted to look after 4 children that you have only just got out of school and crossed the road with and watch a baby instead of leaving a pram to roll away because you want a sofa seat not a hard chair in a coffee shop maybe not having the children in the first place is the best bet.

From what I caught of the convocation she was having with the 2nd woman she was child minding anyway, I would expect someone paid to watch a child to actually watch it
